Sunday 7thof August 2016and the boat was on the way to the jetty when I came down to the marina. I had seen a few Brush Wattlebirds in the trees outside my apartment and I stopped to see if I could get any good pictures. The Brush WattleBird is yet another new bird for me since I came to Australia. First I thought it was a Red Wattlebird.
So it was a great start of the day, a bird eating honey from beautiful ref flowers in the trees outside my apartment. It was a gorgeous morning and it looked to be a nice tour. And not as much people as yesterday
We took off and we passed the Seal Rock but we were soon going back towards the Seal Rock. We stopped there to take a few pictures before we took off continuing to search for whales. It was kind of fun to watch the seals dive or slide in to the sea. Clumsy on land but they are very graceful when in the water.
We cruised along the whole stretch of Phillip Island’s south coast and no whales. But there had been a few Silver Gulls flying with us and plenty seals jumping around. And there were Dolphins swimming with us, but no whales. But after the two breaches yesterday I was very satisfied with my 3 days here in Cowes.
And 3, that is how many of the excellent Australian ice cream I had during the tour. EngelholmsGlass, the best in the world? Well, the Australian Connoisseur ice cream is right up there with Engelholms Glass
They were out of the Connoisseur Kangaroo Island Honey With Pistachio Ice Cream so I had the Murray River Salted Caramel with Macadamia and when they were finished I had to take the last Connoisseur, the Vanilla & Almond with Himalayan Salted Chocolate. Darn, it is some good ice cream they make!
I walked back to my apartment and I passed a field and I spotted 2 Masked lapwings and they made a terrible noise. And as I suspected, they had 2 babies they were protecting. I stayed well clear and I took a picture before I left leaving them alone.
I ran in to the Red wattleBird in the trees outside my hotel. Seems to be popular trees for parrots and wattlebirds with the beautiful red flowers. Coming back from my evening walk and I discovered the area, yet again full of parrots
Well, this is pretty much over and out from Phillip Island. My alarm is no longer in “LUXURY” mode, set to go off at 05:00 tomorrow morning. The bus to Dandenong is leaving at 06:38 and I will take the airport bus from there. So it will be a little public transportation and that was not yesterday I was on any public transportation.
