Sunday 8 th of February 2015 and I will have to take the sky train to the Payathai station. They will pick me up at the Florida hotel at 17 thirty. I walked down Sukhumvit Soi 23 and I stopped at
Queen Victoria for a Bangers & Mash, but there were too much people and I left again.I decided to stop at Bradman's Bistro for some food. I have not been here for several years. I have only been eating here one time before. Well, I never ate, I ordered a lasagne and it took so long time for the food to be ready. And I had to leave before the food was ready.
And yes, I don't expect to wait for 45 minutes when I order food at a restaurant. My friends arrived and we had to take off for a birthday party. But today, I decided to give it another try. I was hungry and I ordered a big breakfast, they serve “all day” breakfasts, but as I had trouble with the language barrier I changed my order. I didn't wanted baked beans and I was not able to find out if it was hard or soft bacon. And I didn't wanted to take any chances with my breakfast.

I will wait with my “Cowboy” breakfast until I'm at New Cowboy bar and restaurant next time. I was looking for Bangers & Mash and they had something the called Bangers & Mash topped with melted
cheese. That sounded like something for me.
I also asked for a “double” grilled cheese and ham sandwich. And of course a pot of tea.Took them 2 minutes to make the grilled sandwich and the sandwich looked very good, and it tasted good. The Waitress told me my Bangers & Mash would be ready in half an hour

Well, it was either her English sucking balls, or it was my English sucking balls. But the Bangers & Mash came some 30 seconds later and I guess she meant half a minute and not half an hour. And I had expected the Bangers & Mash to look like
Bangers & Mash with some melted cheese.But the Bangers & Mash looked like Lasagne and it was not bad. I wee bit less of the onion sauce and it would have been perfect. But all in all the food was good and I was satisfied when I left Bradman's Bistro for the sky train station.
I had an hour to kill before it was time to get picked up at Florida Hotel. And I reached Florida Hotel 15 minutes later and I had to kill time walking around in the area. Phetchaburi Road and it is hard to recognise from 15 years ago when I was walking around Bangkok looking for a condo. And jeez, am I happy that I bought a condo on Sukhumvit Soi 23?
Back then Thonglor was not much more than a dust road. I like Thonglor, but today the traffic
there are terrible and Sukhumvit Soi 23 is like, well, almost like living on the country side.I had to wait for about 20 minutes at Florida Hotel before the van arrived and we were soon on the way to Siam Niramit. I had no clue where the place was, but it turned out to be on Ratchadapisek, not far away from one of my previous Thai language schools. And it was a wee bit of a chock turning up on the parking lot. There were plenty buses and vans so there would be a lot of
people watching the show tonight.We got our tickets and we went for the “buffet-style dinner that offers a delicious range of Thai and International dishes. The food served has attracted much praise from our guests” Well, I was not exactly delirious by anticipation as I had read about the buffet on TripAdvisor. The advice was to skip the buffet, but I wanted the full Siam Niramit experience. So buffet it was. I gave them my buffet voucher and I stepped inside

There were really nothing to get excited over at the buffet. The restaurant was nice enough, but the only interesting thing to eat was steamed rice. International dishes, maybe it was the salad or
the buns. There was a child sneezing all over the salad so I stayed well clear of the area.These Chinese, making it to the Bangkok Post again, banned from the White Temple. If you cannot teach your children to behave, don't leave them alone at a buffet.
So I sailed well clear of the “sneezing” section of the buffet. I asked for two cans of diet drinks and I had a small saucer with steamed rice and butter. I think I spent less than 10 minutes at the buffet.
I was soon out of there and I walked to the entrance to the Siam Niramit area. I showed my
ticket and I went inside. And as no surprise, the entrance was full of souvenir shops selling exactly the same stuff they sell along the Sukhumvit Road and the night markets.
The wooden frog, who want to buy a wooden frog and exactly for how long is it fun to make the frog sound with the wooden frog? 10 seconds? For sure not much longer. I can't imagine why people want to buy any of the souvenirs on display at night markets, along the roads and in souvenir shops. As we used to say in the Caribbean, same T-shirt different name. And seriously, you have the wooden frog, elephant or what ever it is on your bookshelf back home. How many days before you have grown tired to see the darn thing?

and on the left hand side we had a few stalls with Thai Temple Fair Games.And on the other side we had the Thai Village “Four Regions” I went to the Thai Village to see “the different rural lifestyles across the Four Regions of Thailand in bygone times. Enjoy a glimpse of traditional lifestyles, arts and craft of rural Thailand”

to be able to kill “plenty” time over there. Well, it was nice, but I was out
again after 10 minutes and there were still plenty time to kill before the show started.And if you have plans to come here DON'T FORGET TO BRING MOSQUITO REPELLENT!
There were some “mini” rice paddies in the Thai Village, and a house in a pond they were paddling around. So there must have been mosquitos in the water. My legs were itching like
But except from the mosquitos or insect it was nice walking around. Of course, at some places we could see the condo buildings behind the old houses.

And yes, I was a wee bit disappointed when I checked my wrist watch when I was back on the plaza. 10 minutes and more than an hour, almost one and a half hour before the show would start.
I passed the Thai Temple Fair Game stalls but there was not much fun going on.I sat down on a bench preparing my self for an hour of staring out in the blue doing nothing. I could hear drums and other instruments and there were soon people marching in through the gate. A song and dance number, yeah, yippeeee!
Another barrel of fun! I decided to go have a closer look. I think it was 5 girls and 5 boys and a few people sitting down in the middle. I
saw more people dressed in Thai dancing clothes and I walked over to see what was going on.I found it very nice and it was fun to watch the show. And the audience really loved the dance and they were soon joining the performers in the dance and everyone had a good time.
Of course, I wanted to join the dance, but someone have to take pictures.Yes, it looked like the Siam Niramit show will turn out to be a success with all the tourists. It was nice to see that Thailand have more to offer the tourists than scams and national parks full of garbage. And even the traditional Thai music was pleasant to listen to. So if we forget the buffet the evening have so far been a success. Now it is only the main show remaining.

I'm attacked by Chinese girls and they wants plenty pictures
I was standing there enjoying the dance show when I was approached by a bunch of Chinese girls, they wanted pictures and who am I to say no. The outdoor dance floor was finished at 7 thirty and
we went inside to the theatre. They wanted to take our cameras when we entered but I had my camera in my pocket.I found my seat R15 and I was among the first people in the theatre.
I was alone in my row of seats, but I knew the other 4 people in the van had their seats next to me. I sneaked out my camera from my pocket. I took a few pictures and it didn't take long before one of the staff members went to grass me. A few seconds later I had a girl asking me to come with her to deposit
my camera.I ended up in a discussion with her and she left. A few minutes later the head of the “security” came to my seat. Blah-blah-bla and it was against the regulations. I told him that it was against the regulation to take pictures DURING the show.
And the show had not started yet. He told me that they had CCTV and they would keep an eye on me. He looked at all the other people around us playing with their mobile phones. He told me that it was allowed to use the phones, but not to use them to take pictures.

They were going to pick me up at my home, but they called and told me that I would have to get to the Florida Hotel at the Payathai sky train station. They would pick me up at 17 thirty and they arrived around 17:40 so that was OK
There were a couple from Brazil and a couple from Russia in the van when they picked me up. We took off to Siam Niramit and we arrived 10 minutes after 6 or something like that.
We got our tickets, the show will start at 8 and we will meet at the van around 21 thirty. We will start with the buffet and after that we will enter the Siam Niramit area. Souvenir shops, a Thai village and some entertainment before the show starts at 20:00. We went to the restaurant and the “buffet-style dinner that offers a delicious range of Thai and International dishes. The food served has attracted much praise from our guests”
Well, I have not heard any praise about the buffet. It was straight up bad. I only booked the dinner because I wanted the “full” experience. And, well, the buffet on the cruise ship was better, at least they had spaghetti and meat sauce. I had steamed rice with butter and 2 cans of diet drink.
6 thirty, I had spent about 10 minutes at the restaurant and now I had to kill another 90 minutes before the show would start. I entered the show area to check out the pre-show attractions our driver had been talking so much about.
A walk through the Thai village, was interesting. Clean comparing to a real Thai village with all the garbage laying around. There was a “mini” rice paddy and it was kind of nice to walk around in the Thai village area. It only took a few minutes to walk through the village, but it was nice.
There were also something the Thai Temple Fair Games. Throwing balls at empty cans, throwing darts at balloons and throw balls to hit something so a girl falls in the water.
Yeah, seems like a barrel of fun with all the throwing of stuff. There was a dance performance starting around 7 o'clock and this was quite fun to watch, traditional Thai dance and after all this years is it about time to see it. At the end most of the audience was participating and it really looked like they had fun.
They opened the doors to the theatre at 7 thirty and I was soon finding my seat. We had to wait for 30 minutes for the show to start and when they started to show commercials as in the cinema I was about to leave. Luckily enough I stayed because the show was fantastic. Maybe not as fantastic as the stage was, but lower the volume a notch (alternatively have a somewhat better selections of tunes) and this would have been an excellent show.

Buffet:
Well, I have lived in Bangkok since 1995 and this was the first time I saw a Thai traditional dance. And the first show, well, I saw a Katoye show at Washington Square back in the beginning of the 90's. But back then we were there for the beer and I don't remember much of the show.
But the Siam Niramit is something I can recommend. I think I would have rated it EXCELLENT if it wasn't for the buffet and the loud music. It was really high. And the show was 80 minutes long, almost 90 minutes and that was a wee bit too much.
Don't get me wrong, it was a beautiful show with a wonderful setting that changed every now and then so you never got bored with the stage. But the music was a wee bit tedious, except for the Issarn music. The Issarn music is very good. But it was loud.
Not allowed to take pictures and they were using the green laser pointers on all the people taking pictures. Wått's dö madderfakking diil? Try to do a picture search on Siam Niramit and you will find millions of pictures from the show. Get a grip! And as soon as it is something Thai it is very important to protect and copy right etc. Then they sell all the pirate DVDs, computer program and all the knock-offs full open along the streets.
I really had fun and it was a good time so skip the buffet and go see the show and you have killed an evening in Bangkok. The main attraction, the Siam Niramit was fantastic.

We were back on the parking lot around 9 thirty and we were soon sitting in the van. I was home around 10 o'clock and I was very happy with my evening. Tomorrow it is Monday again and that means boxing and Thai studies again. And I will go to the hospital as well.
