Aladdin's adventure flying to San Francisco with United Airlines flight UA1057

OK, it has come to my knowledge that we have senior citizens visiting my web page. How hard can it be? So it's not very easy for them to see the blue coloured links to the next page.

Tuesday 11 ^th of April 2023 and I was out of bed just after 4 and the kettle was soon on. I had my tea, well, two buckets of tea while I prepared my luggage. I was in the reception at 9 0'clock.Groome will come to pick me up between 09:10 and 09:15.

It was a gorgeous weather and I had packed my winter clothes and I willhopefully never have to take them out of the bag again.

They had come to use here in Colorado as it has been very cold. Last days and it would have been enough with the summer uniform. But the mornings are still very cold with freezing temperatures.

I brought out my luggage 5 minutes past 9 and I was outside waiting for the van while enjoying the weather. I was chatting with one of the staff and suddenly the van from Groome arrived. We loaded my bags and we took off. Two more passengers to join and the van was almost empty.

So, I was very happy, until was informed that we would change to a bus before leaving Fort Collins. The bus was quite full by the time we left Fort Collins but it was OK. We expect one hour to reach Denver Airport and the first stop will be United Airlines terminal.

I spot three white pelicans flying over the highway on the way to the airport and I opened my eBird app and I reported the birds. Time turned quite quick and I even think I dozed off for a couple of minutes every now and then.

I found the check in and I went to the security check. I take the escalator down to the security check and I was shocked, must have been thousands of people. I had been so happy as there were not much people going towards the security.

So, I had expected the security to be empty, or almost empty so I was almost falling down the escalator when I saw all the people.

I found the priority line and it was almost empty and I was soon through the security and a couple of minutes later I was on the train going to Terminal B and that is United Airlines terminal.

The trains are departing quite often so there were not so much people on the train. And as I was almost first on board, I got a seat and I enjoyed the ride to Terminal B.

Reaching Terminal B and I took the escalator to the departure hall. I run in to a shop with refreshments and they have Pepsi and I brought two bottles to enjoy on the flight to San Francisco. I also saw something I only seen in movies.

A shoe shine shop. You sit in an armchair while you get your shoes polished. Flight UA 1057 to San Francisco leaves from gate 44 so this was close to where I came up with the escalator. So, it was only a 2 minutes’ walk.

It was about one hour to go until boarding when I reached the gate. I finished one of my refreshments before it was time to board flight UA 1057. I take my seat and we depart in time and the flight is two hours and 15 minutes. And we have to retard our clocks with one hour.

I dozed of a couple of times and in one of the waken moments the Steward asked if I wanted to dine with them. I said no thanks and I did not need anything to drink as I had brought my own refreshments. He informed me that I just needed to call if I needed anything.

I pick up my luggage and I take the escalator to the air train that goes between the terminals and the Rented Car Center. I find the air train and it took maybe 10 minutes to reach the Rented Car Center and AVIS was just at the entrance.

I paid for the toll way, 12 dollars per day. Would most likely be cheaper to pay the toll myself, but it is 12 US Dollars per day and it is convenient. I bought the tank with gas so I can return the car empty. I did the same in Miami but I misunderstood and the car was almost full when I returned the car.

I picked up my Toyota and it is way smaller than the Chrysler I had in Miami. The Chrysler is the most comfortable car I have driven, but in San Francisco I want to have a small car.

I found my hotel and after checking-in I took off to Hillsdale Shopping Center to look for milk and water for my tea. And I need to buy a new SIM card. Parking the car and I walk towards the entrance and I see a steak house.

I am so feed up with eating cheese and ham in my hotel room. It is so boring, I had one cheating day in Colorado, but it is so boring. But it is healthy and my blood sugar are good. But walking past the Paul Martin's American Grill and I changed course and I walked towards Paul Martin's American Grill.

I stepped inside and I ordered my dinner and I avoided all carbs. The Waiter brought a steak knife and I told him that I would use the knife on the table.
- You think it is sharp enough?
- If it is not, I will send back the steak to the kitchen

No problem with the steak, it was very tender so no need to send it back. The grilled asparagus and cauliflowers were very good and not many carbs. I felt good when I left.

The food was good, but not cheap, 95 US Dollars. I left and I went to AT & T to buy a SIM card. The guy in the shop checked my phone to see if I could use the SIM. It was OK and I bought a SIM and it was not working. He told me that there was no refund for the prepaid SIM.

But I could buy a new phone and I told him that if you do business like this where I come from the police will come and arrest you. I was not happy! I returned the SIM; it was of no use for me. I will call the office tomorrow to try to refund the money.

I went to buy milk and I was returning to Best Western Coyote Point Inn, my hotel when I realised that I had forgot to buy water. And they had no MAX where I bought the milk so I started to drive around looking for a supermarket. And there was a big supermarket 3 minutes away from the hotel.

Well, I will set my alarm for 4 o'clock in the morning and I hope to see a lot of birds tomorrow. San Francisco bird watching trip report, click HERE .
