and I was really sick waking up with fever. I was feeling a little bit better when I went for breakfast. My Guide and Driver wa sin the restaurant and we had our breakfast. The breakfast was OK, but not as good as I had expected after having eating the very good lunch and dinner. But the Addis tea and omelette was OK.
We are not allowed to drive down to the beach with our own car and we must use the golf cart, a free service. The golf cart was not available and we were allowed to use our own car. We drove down the crater rim and we reached the beach. We didn't see any birds, well an Egyptian Goose. Not exactly the excitement I had been hoping for.
We walked back to the car and one of the hotel staff came to tell us that there was two Northern White-faced Owl sitting in a tree. We went to check it out. The birds was sitting in the top of the tree and they were covered with twigs and leafs so the pictures was not any good.

We left Sabana Beach Resort and Lake Langano behind in the dust from the bumpy dust road. We turned left when we reached the paved road and we continued driving south towards the "Rastafari Town" and Wendo Genet is just a little bit south of the "Rastafari Town". We had been on the way for a couple of minutes when we passed a road kill. A cow had been hit by a car.
There was plenty Rüppell's Griffons at the road side. And dogs fighting with the vultures. Here is what I have learned. The only vulture that can open a dead animal, bit through the skin / leather it the biggest vulture, the Lapp-faced Vulture. When the Rüppell's Griffons see a dead animal they wait for the Lapp-faced Vulture.
But the Lapp-faced Vulture is not very common and as the dogs can open the skin / leather they have to wait for, well, anything to open the animal or the Rüppell's Griffon cannot eat.

We leave the road kill behind and we continue towards Wendo Genet. Approaching Shashamane and we spot a White-headed Vulture in a tree next to the road. Too far away but I decided to give it a try and I went out of the car. There were Hooded Vultures in the tree as well.
So it was easy to see that the White-headed Vulture was bigger than the Hooded. I was disappointed with the pictures when we left the vultures behind. But we willhopefully see more vultures before it is time to leave Ethiopia.

We stop to buy bananas
We drive south passing through Shashamane and we reach Wendo Genet Wabe Shebelle Resort Hotel. By now I have really got sick and it is most likely food poison again. Most likely the raspberries and strawberries. We go to my room after check in, the room is OK, but the batch room. In need of a proper scrub. And I am for sure not in a hurry to have a shower.

The hotel guy and my guide leave my room and I go to bed. I really didn't feel very good. I went to meet my Guide at 3 o'clock to go look for birds. I told him that I felt like shit. We walked around the hotel compound and we spotted a Black Kite. The only bird I saw until we were back at the parking when we spotted two Hooded Vultures in a tree.
Some kind of holiday and there were a couple of families having a picnic in the park, and they played music that was so loud there was no birds to see.
I wanted to go back to my room as I felt very bad. But my Guide pushed me to continue. So we walked down the hill and I was lucky to see a Silvery-cheeked Hornbill couple.
