Well, the flag of Skåne, just a BONUS flag.
Tuesday 20thof September 2017and they called to wake me up at 5 o'clock and I bounced out of bed eager to get down to the park and beach to look for birds. I made tea and an Oatmeal Surprise in my room before going down to look for the taxi.
The taxi driver I had agreed with to come pick me up was not on the parking lot. I waited until 6 o'clock and then I took another taxi. I got out of the taxi at the parking lot on the beach 10 minutes later. 6 o'clock and the Blue-napped Parrot was already up and about. A lot of noise when they were flying around.
The trees have some fruit or something the parrots like to eat and there are several Blue-naped Parrots in the trees eating early morning. From the trees, they are smack on the beach you have a good view along the beach. Keep your eyes out. You can find birds fishing on the beach.

Collared Kingfisher in the trees
If you're lucky you can watch birds fishing and it is very fun to watch them looking for fish in the water. In the park we have the Collared Kingfisher, several of them around the pond at the entrance. And if you look down the pond you can see that there are plenty frogs and the Collared Kingfisher seems to like the frogs.
The whole area is full of the little beautiful Zebra Dove. And it seems like it is their breeding season as the males performed a courtship display where they bow and coo while raising and spreading the tail. According to Wikipedia the breeding season is from September to June in its native range.
I walked around for a very short while as I had decided to explore the area East of the park between the road Jalan Selangore and the park. Drive down Jalan Selangore, or rent a taxi, 40 Ringgits per hour. We drove around and we drove in to the bush land. Birding in a taxi.
Yes, all the good pictures I have got on Borneo, both here and in Tabin Wildlife reserve have been from a car. I tried walking around but the birds are very scared, but they don't care about the car. Well, that goes for all th ebirds except the Dusky Munia and the White-breasted Waterhen. They took off like they had fire on their behinds when we approached with the car.
Otherwise the birds was just sitting there minding their own business until I tried to get out of the car, then they were off. So open windows in the back and trying to position the car for good pictures. If I had a Dollar for every Zebra Dove I saw I could have retired. But I tried to get the courtship display on video.
As in any other third world country, they throw garbage everywhere
The only picture I managed to get of a Dusky Munia during my stay on Borneo - What a disappointment!

Hurry on down to Borneo for some bird watching before the wilderness have taken over
Drive around the soccer field and there are bushes with flowers along the road. Chestnut Munias was everywhere and I finally managed to get some pictures. I have only managed to get one picture on the first day here in Kota Kinabalu.
We drove around the soccer field one time and then we drove back on the small road to the Prince Philip Park area. It was time to get back to my hotel. We were back on the Jalan Selangor Road. I prepared my camera for the trip back home in the back of the car. Removing flash etc. and suddenly I see a pair of pink-necked green pigeons flying across the road landing in a tree. I stopped the taxi and I got out to get some pictures.
The Pink-necked Green Pigeon pictures turned out to be not much more thanWell, time to get back home. We stopped at an ATM so I could pay the driver and he dropped me at Ming Garden Hotel and Residences.
