Birding/ Bird watching in Bjuv, Skåne

OK, it has come to my knowledge that we have senior citizens visiting my web page. How hard can it be? So it's not very easy for them to see the blue coloured links to the next page.

Well, the flag of Skåne, just a BONUS flag.

Wednesday 4 ^th of July 2018 and I woke up 10 minutes before 4 o'clock in the morning, 12 minutesbefore my alarm was set to go off. I bought a train ticket with mySkånetrafiken app on my phone. I bought a ticket for Pågatågen.

I will take the 07:47 train to Bjuv and I will arrive at 08:03. I called my brother, well, he called me as I could not fill up my new SIM card on the internet. Yet again, Line came in handy and I sent him a message to call me on my new number. Anyway, I will attend to this as soon as I can.

They had told me that breakfast would start at 7, but I took the chance to go earlier and they had started the breakfast when I came down 10 minutes or so before breakfast. My plan was to take the 07:47 train to Bjuv and as I had got my SIM to work I could use the ticket in the APP.

I was on the platform at 07:35 and I had to wait for a few minutes before the train arrived on track 2b. Plenty trains coming and going and there was a lot of passengers on the platform. It is 15 minutes or so to Bjuv and I enjoyed the views from the window. A beautiful Skåne summer landscape passed outside the windows

I arrived to Bjuv just after 8 o'clock and it was a gorgeous morning. I had told my brother that he didn't need to come pick me up as I will walk and I will look for birds.

And the first bird I spotted was a Rook. My first ever bird picture from Sweden. The bird disappeared after just a picture, but I spotted a few mallards and I went to check them out. I discovered a small stream/ creek. I followed the Mallards swimming along the stream and I came to a small pond.

I decided to walk along the stream looking for birds going to my brother's house. I was surprised to see some very small Mallard babies. I had seen a female swimming around with 3 big babies, what I had expected at this time of the year. Then I spotted another female with two very small babies.

On New Zealand I saw a lot of different sizes on the babies. Some birds were almost adult while some birds were still sitting on eggs. On New Zealand the weather is almost the same year around so never mind when the babies are coming. But is Sweden there is only a small window before the winter strikes and by then the babies needs to have grown up.

I follow the stream in the direction towards the area where my brother lives. Well, I didn't know where I was, but I was pretty sure I walked in the right direction. It was only 8 o'clock in the morning but it was starting to get hot in the sunshine. Not as hot as in Thailand, well, almost, but it don't feel so hot here as the humidity is not “popping” out as it is doing in Thailand.

But here was no place to buy water, unless I wanted to walk in to town, well, Bjuv is a village not a town. Or, well, a very small town. I was running in to a couple of Common Blackbirds and a few Western Jackdaws, and none of the birds were easy to get on picture.

I get the picture of the Common Wood Pigeon and I started to walk towards my brother's house. I left the park walking down the street and there were quite a few Common Blackbirds flying around between the houses. At my brother’s house I got all my parcels that he had received from different VAPE shops for me.

A beautiful day and it was BBQ for lunch. So I brought one of my nephews and my niece to the supermarket to buy sausages. And I decided that we should walk through the park to the Supermarket even though it was longer. Never missing a chance to see some birds.

We passed the pond on our way to the Supermarket and we stopped to look at the birds. And we spotted a Common Gull this time. The Mallards were still swimming around with their babies. We continued towards the Supermarket and it was longer than I had expected, and it was hot and I started to get worried about my niece. She was on her bike, but it was very hot.

So we bought cold drinks when we arrived to the Supermarket. We bought sausages for the BBQ and we called my brother so he could come to pick us up. I had two parcels to pick up, but as I didn't had the numbers we had to drive to my hotel in Helsingborg to pick get the parcel numbers.

And to make it cheap and environmental friendly we took my brother's Chevrolet Bel Air 1956 with 8 cylinders. And the V8, I swear to God, I could hear the gasoline disappear from the tank when we throttled the car. And of course, it was impossible to talk in the car.

Reaching Marina Plaza in Helsingborg and we had a flat tyre and we had to call a towing truck. And while waiting I took a few pictures of a Black-headed Gull, known as a Skrattmås in Skåne. I realised that I had to take the train back to Bjuv. My brother goes in the tow truck.

So I went to charge my phone and to charge my new e-cig in the hotel. And I could see all the tow truck “action” outside the window in my room.

The car disappears and I have to take the train back to Bjuv

I forgot my phone with my train ticket so I had to go back to my room and thus I missed the train at 13:47 and I had to take the 14:17. My brother picked me up at the train station and we wentto pick up my parcels. We had the BBQ sausages and I took the train back home at 18:17 from Bjuv.

I went to Österns Pärla later on in the evening to have a few spring rolls before going to bed with my alarm set to go off at 04:00.
