Wednesday 24 th
of April 2019
and my mobil starts to vibrate at 03:20 and I was in my bed trying to be as quiet as possible. And time turned very slowly until 10 o´clock. Finally, 10 o´clock and it was very nice when we could leave. No birds was seen during the night and they had not seen any birds yesterday so never mind that I was in my room resting.
We walked back to “fågelpaviljongen” and it was about 11 o´clock and darn! It was nice to get out of the boots. I will meet my Guide in Surahamar at 1 o´clock so I had to leave “fågelpaviljongen” and Tiveden behind.

    Early morning in the tent

I rolled in to OKQ8 5 minutes before 1 o´clock and the Guide walked up to my car to ask if I was Aladdin. We will have lunch at Ramnäs Hotell & Konferens, this is also the hotel where I will have my day rest coming back after having spent the nights in the tent.
It was really nice to have a shower after the night in the tent back in Tiveden. I had a shower and I went down in the restaurant to have lunch with my Guide. We will drive around in the forest to have a look for birds before going to the hide where I will spend the night.

    Last year baby moose

We start by going to look at a nesting Whopper Swan pair. We leave the swans behind working our way towards the hide. Suddenly we have a moose on our left side and we stop. I don´t have a chance to get my camera ready and I only get the behind of the moose running in to the woods.
The moose is coming back to have a look at us and we discover that she have a baby from last year as well. The “young” moose will leave the mother in a month or so when the mother will have a new baby or two.
They stand and look at us and when they are leaving my Guide make some sound and they turn around and look at us again. She is about to leave with her young and we manage to keep her two times with my Guides sound.
A sound I made a mental note of, never know when this sound can come in handy.

    We continue through the forest

    My hide

We reach the lekking area and we park the car and we walk 2-300 meters to my hide. And a very good thing, no need for boots. My Guide left and I prepared my tent, feeling much better than when I was in Tiveden as there were no need to think about being quiet. Well, of course, normal silence is to be observed as always when in the nature.
I set up my equipment in the tent and I have my evening snacks provided by Ramnäs Hotell & Konferens and I was asleep around 8 o´clock in the evening with my “silent” but vibrating alarm set to go off 03:20.
