and I am in the port a little after 8 o'clock to look for the ferry. The ferry was easy to spot, there were several of them. But to find the waiting line was not easy. There were lanes, but for which ferry? No signs to be seen.
I called my friend and he explained where to go and when I found the place, second time coming there this morning, and I spotted my friend's car.

We boarded the ferry and we took the elevator up to deck 5. There was a coffee shop on deck 6 but we chose the saloon on deck 5 as we have had breakfast already. The sold souvenirs in the shop and I bought three tea mugs.
Gloom and grey for long as I could see and I had been hoping for nice weather so I could look for birds on the way south. Approaching Suðuroy and I go on deck, no rain but very cold in the strong wind. We spot a couple of Gannets but they disappeared when we came close to the island.
But then we got a lot of sea gulls following the ferry to the port.

Suðuroy
Suðuroy (literally South Island, Danish: Suderø) is the southernmost of the Faroe Islands. The island covers 163.7 square kilometres. In 2018 the population was 4,601. Suðuroy region (sýsla) comprises this island and Lítla Dímun, the next isle northward in the Faroes, which is uninhabited.
My friend is going to deliver some stuff to his sister on the island and I will drive north to look for birds while they are doing this. I will be back to pick them up when they are and we will drive around to have a look at the island.
I drive through a tunnel and I come out at the eBird hotspot: Trongisvagur--inner bay and shore. It was a terrible weather and I tried to open the window in the car to ID a couple of birds. I
closed the window very quick again. It was full storm blowing in to the car and it was like taking a cold shower when the rain blew in to the car.

There were many gulls taking cover for the rain on the fields in Hvalba, otherwise not many birds. I guess they are hiding in this weather. I continue through the village of Hvalba to reach another eBird hotspot: Norðberg - ocean view. This might be the quickest ever visit to a hotspot for me. I got out of the car and I was back in the car quicker than quick.
What a terrible weather it is! I met 2 Danish Bird watchers and they told me that they were going to the south point of the island as someone had seen Puffins there.
My friends were ready and I drove south again to pick them up. We will park their car at the ferry terminal and we will pick it up tonight when going back to Torshavn

Today's track at Hov
We drive south towards Sumba and the Akraberg Lighthouse on the southernmost tip of Faroe Islands. We make a stop at the eBird hotspot: Hov on the way south.
We pass through Sumba and from there it is pretty much just a dirt track to reach Akraberg Lighthouse and the eBird hotspot: Akraberg.
We were lucky as we had a couple of minutes with sunshine at Akraberg. I would have loved to stay to try to take pictures of all the Fulmars flying at eye height level outside the cliffs.

Today's track at Akraberg
We will drive back north to look for a restaurant and we decided to go via the mountains. Would have been a gorgeous trip, but we did not have any luck, dense fog and we could hardly see the road in front of us.
We came down at Vágur and we went to check out the eBird hotpsot Vágur--Vatn. There are quite a few birds in the small lake. 3 Mandarin ducks and a Whopper Swan.

There were also mallards, about the double size as a normal mallard so they are a hybrid, most likely with a goose. I got a few pictures and I returned to the car and we left the lake.

There are no open restaurants in Vágur, well, one open but they had just taken out the meat from the freezer. We decided to go check out a restaurant in Trongisvágur and we are very close to the ferry terminal. We park the car in Trongisvágur and we walk about 100 meters to Cafe Glasstovan where we could have tea. The food was OK and we were full when we left.
We could see the ferry arriving from the cafe and we drove down to the terminal

The sun is coming through the clouds and I got instant high hopes to get some bird pictures from the ferry after departure. We don't need to wait for long before we start to board the ferry, of course, the departure will be late. Plenty trailers to load on the ferry.
We go up to deck 5 again and we pay the ticket, this has to be bought on the way back to Torshavn. So the trip would have been free if I had left the car behind.
We are waiting to board the ferry back to Torshavn

Time to drive ashore in Torshavn
The weather was not so good so I did not spend much time on deck trying to take pictures and we spent the trip in the saloon. We reached Torshavn after about 2 hours and I drove back to my apartment, late again, almost 10 thirty and I went straight to bed.
I will invite my friend and his wife for a cruise to the Bird Cliff in Vestmanna and I will pick them up tomorrow around 9 o'clock. Cleck HERE
