Thursday 18th of May 2006 and I called my friend in Sweden when I came on my watch at midnight. He said hello from one of the girls we had known for a few years.
- She left her boy friend and she sent her regards, he said.
- What the YOO!! The boyfriend left and all of the sudden Mr. Aladdin is the guy you want to send
your hello to. Well, I'm spoken for.I brought my big mug of tea to the bridge when I went for my afternoon watch. The boat is still moving a little, but it's possible to enjoy the tea without chasing the tea mug around.
The crew was enjoying themselves on deck and I took a few pictures. Was this the world's first ever “SELFIE” I experienced back on board Rainbow Warrior back in 2006? For sure, I had not heard the expression before.
So maybe Greenpeace was first.
Even though there was time to enjoy themselves they were kicking behinds on deck. Chipping and painting on deck and
Rainbow Warrior will look like new when we arrive to Genoa, Italy in a few weeks time.

During the afternoon they repaired the AC, and it was very nice to have the AC up and running again. It had been very hot during the day. And the AC was working just in time when the crew finished work on deck. After a long day outside working in the sun you would think they were in a hurry top get inside.
Well, everybody meet on deck for an after work beer (I had an after work diet drink) and a chat. They have got used to my diet drinks by now, but they still pester me for drinking Coca Cola, their worst enemy. No one had been drinking Coca Cola on board Rainbow Warrior before. But that's the only issue. In the merchant marine they are very suspicious when I'm not drinking beer on board. Is he a spy for the company or a sober alcoholic? Well, that have changed as well, and in Maersk alcohol is not allowed and that's one of the best thing ever.

naked. I'm thinking about having a credit card section of the www.aladdin.st, cyber porn can make you rich. But I don't think these pictures would be enough to quit my day job. But it would be nice to spend the rest of the life cruising around the world with Rainbow Warrior not having to worry about money

3 hours, it felt really good until around half past eight when I slept with the foot and my ankle became in the size of a football, and the only thing around here we want in a
football size is the avocado.Yes, that would be something, an avocado in the size of a football. Well, they will soon come up with something making giant avocados.
While walking I could see our Captain playing the guitar in the mess room through the skylight. We have 3 or 4 guitars in the mess room and I thought it would be nice to have a picture of someone playing the guitar on my web page.
When I went down to get my camera I meet the Captain and I was disappointed, I had expected a few pictures.

DARN! I missed it, but I asked our Spanish volunteer if he voluntarily would hold the guitar while I
took a picture for the “ Love song ” section on my web page.
There are plenty guitars in the mess room and I have seen a few of the crew playing, I don't know how well. Well, maybe it's a good way to pick up a girl.

walking on deck. I saw (no names to be mentioned) Mr. X hanging from the wires to the mast. He was climbing up and down the wires hanging in the arms. I don't know, maybe this is what girls like to see. I'm pretty sure it was done to impress the females. And yes, I can imagine a cubic ton of Aladdin hanging from the wires, for sure not a sight impressing any girls.Well, I have to ask good ol' “ 50 - skylten”, he is a self-appointed expert on the subject, a real connoisseur of the female sex. Hmm, anyway, if this is what it takes I'm out of the game.

and we had a nice night watch with a few passing showers. When I came on my watch at lunch we were West of the Minicoy Island. We had passed the island 9 o'clock in
the morning while I was sleeping.
Well, for sure, I didn't miss seeing the darn island, sleep has a higher priority. ALWAYS THOROUGHLY RESTED READY FOR ACTION!From Sri Lanka we have kept a course 288° (t) and passing the Eight Degree Channel (Maa Ma Lee Kandu) between the Minicoy Island and the Ihavandhippolhu Atoll on the Maldives. I enjoyed my tea when coming on watch and I was soon to discover our Spanish girl deckhand volunteers were on deck eating oranges. I went to pester her.
They were on their lunch break and they usually sits in front of the bridge so I can go out to have a chat with them. And the time is quick.
- Are you enjoying the orange?
- It is a grape fruit.
Looked like she was a wee bit grumpy when I asked about the orange. Well, she was most likely
thinking what an idiot I was that couldn't see the difference between a orange and a grapefruit.- Looks like an orange

I think she started to realise that I was pulling her legs and hew mood swung from grumpy to happy. Well, happy might be a wee bit too much to say, but she was smiling. Beter than nothing.

Before going to lunch our Bosun asked me if I could try to dodge the rain during the afternoon.
- We just painted the deck, he said.
The watches onboard are very quick, a small boat and were ever you go there is people to talk
with. I like to spend my watches outside the bridge in the cooling wind with my camera.There is always some action close by. Today they were cleaning the bridge, varnishing the door frame and painting deck around the bridge.
- DARN! Wet paint around the bridge and I can't walk tonight
Well, I guess I will have to trot around between the inflatables on main deck. But it doesn’t look very convenient to walk around on our deck.

I managed to get our other Spanish volunteer on video while varnishing the door frame on the bridge. And as you can see on the video is not the varnishing that's interesting on this video.
At 3 o'clock they managed to catch a fish on one of the fishing lines. It was a small fish and I don't remember what they called it, something with Jack maybe. The time turned quick and it was soon 4 o'clock and I had an appointment with our Radio Operator.
He will connect my laptop so I can write my e-mail on my laptop via the wire less network onboard. I don't have to use the ships computer and I can sit in my cabin listen to music and drink diet drinks while writing the e-mails.

Wet paint around the bridge and I had to do my constitutional on main deck. I'm lucky I'm an ex commando
because there are not much space between all the inflatable boats and
cranes and stuff. Ex commandoor not, but it was dark and thunder and lightning. A little lightning and my night vision was history, I felt over the hydraulic pipes to the crane and at 20:25 it started to rain (heavy rain) and I went for my shower.But you can put me down for a 90 minutes’ walk, I got started late because I could not start my iPod. I had to call Captain and he knew how to fix the problem. I was happy and soon on deck.
So I have been onboard for 2 weeks and we are already having a video on the web page. Never mind, I registered a new domain when I was home and I got 500MB of space. So that's plenty, actually it's so much space I'm thinking about upload the Mutti und Mutti video from Pegasus. We remember that I skipped this turkey due to lack of space. But here we go, and before pushing play: It's a 9.53MB masterpiece, for you broadbanders it's no problem. For you with dial up, hmm, yeah go make some tea and do your homework while downloading the video.

We're retarding ships time by 1 hour during the 8 - 12 watch and that means that I have an extra hour to kill. They started a Chinese video in the mess room, it was
about a teacher and the Teacher had a problem. She didn't know if she could use one or two chalks per day. This was exciting, for about 2.5 seconds and then I was ready to jump overboard.I'm a little after with my web page so I can spend a few minutes with that, but I was really disappointed with the weather because I really wanted my evening walk.
Well, there is another day tomorrow.
