Going back to Bangkok after a long weekend in Hua Hin

OK, it has come to my knowledge that we have senior citizens visiting my web page. How hard can it be? So it's not very easy for them to see the blue coloured links to the next page.

Tuesday 23 ^rd of February 2016 and today I skipped the sausage for breakfast. Bacon and egg with some toast. And as my tea cup had only been half “full” yesterday I told them to bring TWOtea cups. Again, the breakfast was nothing like I had expected when I booked the hotel.

Seriously, you check-in and then the girl in the reception turn around andfry some bacon and egg. This is not a coffee shop as they claim to have on the internet. Then off toclean the rooms between making food. I will be back to Hua Hin for more bird watching (Bear watching?)but I will not stay here again.

I had my bacon and egg before I went to pack my last things. I had bought a pair of shoes so I needed a plastic bag for this and a couple of bottles with diet drinks that I had not been able to finish.

I'm really looking forward to get back home to my fruit. I can't say that I have been living very healthy here in Hua Hin. But I will go to buy fruit first thing when I'm back home in Bangkok.

I will also go to Canon and have them to clean my camera. I will also have a look on a Canon 2x extender for my 70-200mm lens. So I have plenty to do when I'm back home. We left the hotel around 9 o'clock and we were soon on highway #4 headingfor Bangkok in light traffic.

I was very happy with my “long” weekend in Hua Hin. Especially the bear, the bear is the thing I will remember until, well, I'm out of here.

The Asian Koel, thanks to my birding pal I now know that it is the Asian Koel screaming all over Bangkok and beyond. I have only seen the bird once. But I have been following the sounds many times to get a glimpse. I can hear from which tree the sound comes from, but as soon as I come close the sound stops and I cannot find the bird.

We made it to Bangkok non-stop without any stops for snacks and other bad things for my diet. We were hauling arse along the highway, at least until we reached the outskirts of Bangkok. The traffic almost came to a fullstop. I was afraid that itwould take hours to get home. But the traffic was soon moving again and it went pretty quick to get in to Bangkok.

It is a little better on the Thai highways comparing to India, but darn, we saw some strange stuff and stupid behaviour on our way to Bangkok. One silverSUV was coming down the highway in the wrong direction. I'm not surprised any more, well, actually, I saw a guy on a motorcycle pushing (with his foot) a bicycle rickshaw loaded with huge bales. But this was in India, and I saw an old guy sittingon an old ambulance styled litter with 2 or 3 guys pushing him down the highway. In the middle of nowhere and a long line of buses and trucks behind that couldn't pass the litter. This was back in India. These two times and I was surprised.

Actually, I was so surprised I just gaped with wide open mouth and I forgot to take pictures.

Tape, silver paint and some good foocking will takes you a long way repairing a taxi

I asked my friend to drop me off on the Tonburi side as it was not necessary for him to spend hours going down to Sukhumvit Soi 23 and back again. I took a taxi and I was soon on my way to Foodland on Sukhumvit Soi 5 to buy fruit. And dis a make a tasty fruit salad when I was back home? YES! It was very good and I had really been missing my fruit salad, and this will makes wonders for my diet. From XXXXXXXXXXXXXXL to S in a foocking jiff

Wednesday 25 ^th of February 2016 and I went to Canon at MBK Center for cleaning of my camera. The camera is really full of dust after the tiger safaris. I stopped at fotofile next door to buy the extender. I bought the extender and I was looking at a 17 to 40mm Canon lens. I would test it on my camera when I had picked up the camera at Canon tomorrow afternoon

My friend has a curfew after being out for a few beers Tuesday night, luckily enough I was at school when he called. I have me other friend he is going out with 2 girls and he want me to jointhem on Friday night. One of the girls were here boxing, she is a member of Thai boxing team or if it was Bangkok boxing team. So for sure, I will get beaten up after I have turned in to the OBNOXIOUS MAN after a few of the San Miguel Lights.

Good foocking luck that I have a new hobby. I just say that I can't go as I will be up 5 o'clock in the morning. I called my taxi driver and no reply. Do I have to go drink beer with my friends?

A hangover is for sure nothing I have in my plans. I hope the taxi driver calls back!

Learn Thai

I really don’t want to go, after the last few days with boxing exercises and fruit salad and the healthy smokedsalmon only. And of course tea.

I went to the market but they didn't had any bananas so I walked to Tops Market. But I was lucky, I decided to try Lawson 108 and they had bananas. I was going to stop here to buy ice cream on my way back home anyway.

If I suffer from a hangover tomorrow I wall have a liquid fruit salad. And my social commitment with Bangkok Photographers tomorrow night, well, we will have to see about that. I got a message from my friend asking if I was coming tonight and the taxi driver called 30 seconds later. I never answered as, well, a few San Miguel Lights can be OK.

But I blame it on the ice cream. I had bought all the ice cream and I didn't wanted to throw away. And I was for sure not going to eat the ice cream without any hangover. So it was a combo of being cheap and being on a diet feeling bad about eating ice cream.

I took a taxi to the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River. We were going to meet here, but as I had no clue how long time it would take to get there I left early. Can be everything from 25minutes to “Please, I give up! Turn around and take me home again” halfway there after 2 hours. But today the Friday night traffic was light and I arrived 20 minutes past 8 or so.

I was walking up the terrace and I heard someone saying “Aladdin” from the dark. It was my friend looking at the picture I just sent him. I took a picture of the place when I got out of the taxi to send so he knew that I had arrived. We took a seat waiting for the others, and I was running an to a few veryunexpected disappointments

My friend had a bottle of whiskey and I ordered a Scoobybrau with a glass and plenty ice. After the second bottle of the Scoobybrau it was, well, not tasting like San Miguel Light. But it wentdown. Our friends arrived, but my friend was disappointed as the other girls would not come until 11 and he had done nothing but been talking about her and Friday night.

But the boxing girl was in time and I was actually surprised. It took about 20 minutes and she was very drunk and I could not help envy her.

She is up early tomorrow to make a boxing video, nothing I envy, but being in the age when you can stay up all night drinking and still get up to make a boxing video, that is what I envy. I know exactly what I will do tomorrow when Charisma Man is long gone and Hangover Man is in charge.

No boxing video, that is for sure. I was surprised by the music, Thai live music is usually not very good if it isn't Pleng Lao. But it was great music and the Scoobybrau tasted better by the bottle. I was back home around 2 thirty or something like that.

Saturday 27 ^th of February 2016 and, well, waking up at 10 o'clock and I was for sure not feeling any. And that is even though I remembered how I got home earlier this morning. Yeah, getting old

and I drink responsibly.

Drinking plenty water didn't helped much to alleviate the dry mouth and I was happy that we didn't had to make any boxing video today, or anything else for that matter.

10 o'clock and I could have been well on my way with the birding at Laem Pak Bia and Pak Thale to check out wader birds. Well, next week and I'm off for birding. But first with my friend on Monday and we will go check out Suan Phutthamonthon. Anyway, I went to the kitchen and I had some smoked salmon and I made a liquid fruit salad. Or maybe it is called a smoothie. But a smoothie not to be confused with a smoothie you buy in the shops, a few berries mixed with ice. Not a very exciting smoothie. At least not compared to my smoothie full of “secret” ingredients.

Yes, this was my last night out, what a waste of money and time. And my diet was down the drain. I only left my room to go get pizza. I could have been out birding in Laem Pak Bia/Pak Thale. Instead I wasted a day of my life that I will never get back again. So this is it from the night life of Bangkok. From now on it will only be bird watching and slot cars. And I will be off to Bangkok Slot Car Club tomorrow, and to check out that adventure you just need to click HERE .
