My bird watching map over Middle East
Tuesday 27 th
of November 2018
and we left Bimmah Sinkhole and we started to drive back to Muscat. I will go to Muttrah and walk along the Al Bahri Road and I will walk along the waterfront looking for birds. I will take a taxi from there to Radisson Blu when I´m finished with the bird watching and I might have my dinner in the area if I find a nice place.
As Muttrah waterfront is the tourist area in Muscat there should be something nice, hopefully

We reach Muscat and we drive along the Al Bahri Road at the Muttrah waterfront and it was a beautiful area and on top of that, I spotted a lot of birds from the car. My Guide dropped me at the Riyam Park حديقة الريام where I will have a look for birds.
Muttrah
Muttrah, (Arabic: مطرح) administratively a district, is located in the Muscat province of Oman. Before the discovery of oil, Muttrah was the center of commerce in Oman (Muscat). It is still a center of commerce as one of the largest sea ports of the region is located there.
Other landmarks include Souq Muttrah, a traditional bazaar and Sour Al-Lawatiah, a small community of houses surrounded by an old wall. To the south lies Muscat District.
I say good bye to my Guide and he will come to pick me up at Radisson Blu 6 o´clock tomorrow morning for a trip to the Al Hajar Mountains to look for birds and wild life.
I entered the park and I spotted the Common Myna and House Crows, and of course, the House Sparrow. So there wasn´t much exciting to look at in the Riyam Park. I walked around for 30 minutes or so before I left the park.
I spotted a Common Sandpiper
just before I left the park. That was a little unexpected as I had expected the bird to be down at the water front.

I left the Riyam Park walking out to the Al Bahri Road and I had to cross a lawn. I spotted the second Whimbrel for today, a Whimbrel was walking around on the lawn. But the Whimbrel was taking off. There were millions of Mynas and crows in the area as there is a huge fountain in the roundabout on Al Bahri Road and the birds looked to love to swim and drink in the fountain.
I crossed the road and my plan was to walk back to the city centre. But I spotted a group of gulls so I walked in the opposite direction to have a look at the gulls.

I walk towards the gulls and I was a little disappointed to discover that it was the Black-headed Gulls as I had expected something more exciting. I had a few pictures before I turned around and started to walk back to the city. Passing two Great Cormorants swimming in the ocean.
I make a stop to have a look at some birds looking like Brown Bobbies but they were flying around so no pictures. I continue along the Al Bahri Road walking towards the city.

I was disappointed when I left the gulls behind and there was not any exciting birds on my way back to the city. But I was soon spotting a Striated Heron and not long after that I spotted a juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron looking for fish at the waterfront.
I walk by a beautiful fort and it is a nice walk along the waterfront and it got more excited when I started to spot birds and crabs on the rocks in the water. A gorgeous evening and I enjoyed my constitutional.Burning calories while enjoying the sights, can this evening get any better?
I´m soon running in to a Common Sandpiper and a little further down the Al Bahri Road I spot a Western Reef Heron (Dark Morph) and a Grey Heron. There is a small Common Sandpiper and after a while I see a Whimbrel. I can see a lot of Black-headed Gulls further down Al Bahri Road where some people are throwing bread in the water.
