OK, it has come to my knowledge that we have senior citizens visiting my web page. How hard can it be? So it's not very easy for them to see the blue coloured links to the next page.

Birding/ Bird watching in Bangkok, Thailand

Wednesday 9 ^th of August 2023 and I my friend knocked on my door in the afternoon. He will stay overnight and we will leave early tomorrow morning. I was busy with my yoga video, putting the last hand on the video before uploading it to internet.

I have not been to Chaiyasit Muay Thai Gym since I came back home from Cambodia. My yoga Teacher is in the South of Thailand and I will go when she is back. If she has time on Saturdays, it is 2 to 3 hours in a taxi every day and it is very boring.

But during weekend and holidays it is OK. Easy and quick to get a taxi via Lineman.

And when I go for yoga, I will have a session with The Red Devil (ปีศาจแดง ก.กุมานนท์) Anyway, I have been doing yoga at home and I go for aconstitutional after the yoga and it thus be two constitutionals per day, morning and evening.

Well, we watched the movie and my friend want to send it to his wife so she can follow my “moves” My friend got enthusiastic and inspire by the video he threw himself on my kitchen floor to showhis best yoga moves.

I grabbed my camera to get some “action” pictures.

We were getting hungry and we make food. My friend prepares the salad while I have a shower. And I make a salad dressing while frying the sausages and making tea. Salad and meat and we were full and felt good.

Not like after having eating bread and rice, full and feels like sh#t.

We will have breakfast at 5 thirty and we will be picked up at 7 so my friend went to bed early and I uploaded my video to internet, it took almost 3 hours so I gave up and went to bed after an hour. My alarm is set to go off at 4 so some sleep are needed.

Thursday 10 ^th of August 2023 and I woke up before my alarm went off at 4. I had not been sleeping much, 2 hours tops. But I swung myself out of bed and I went to the kitchen to make acup of tea.

The kettle started to whistle and I was soon enjoying my tea. I could hear my friend coming out in the kitchen at 5 and we started to make breakfast.

We make cheese omelette and bacon and it went down with a barrel of tea. We always make the same breakfast and I am thinking about skipping the bacon next time.

I was very full when we were ready with the breakfast and we still had about one hour before it was time to leave.

We are on the parking lot at 7 and our friend is waiting for us. We load the food and pick-nick stuff in to the car and we are soon on the way towards Suphan Buri. I search my eBird app for hotspots in the area and we will pass close to two hotspots.

We start at Bueng Phai Khak and my friend say that we have been here before when we drove back home from Lop Buri. I check on eBird and we were here back in May 2023 driving from Kanchanaburi to Lop Buri.

We drive north along the east side of the pond/ lake and we make a U-turn and go back south and we cross the pond on the bridge.

We drive north on the west side of the pond / lake and we get out on the main road and we are soon reaching the second eBird hotspot: Don Kamyan paddies and reedbeds and the first birds we see are some Baya Weavers next to the road.

There was on White-throated Kingfisher and a Black-winged Kite sitting on the wire next to the road but the kite dove down from the wire to catch a prey and the bird continued carrying the prey in the talons.

We reach my friend's house and he is soon having the kettle on so we can have some tea. I collectdry twigs for the grill so we can get fire to the coal. My friend looks for paper to start the fire.

We prepare paper and twigs and we fire up the grill and we put the coal on top of the burning twigs. It didn't take long before we had a nice glow and we could put on the meat.

The first batch was refused by my friends as the meat was black, something Thai people are very scared off. It causes cancer they say. I like them a little black, gives the BBQ taste and I was enjoying my food while they prepared their meat.

It tasted very good and we enjoyed our BBQ/ pick-nick lunch. Drinking tea, grilling meat and looking at the birds and the rice paddies surrounding us.

We could see one bird sitting on the wire and my friend said that it was not a sparrow. I told him that it was a pipit and I took my camera and I took off to see what bird it was.

I managed to get pretty close to the bird and it turned out to be a Paddyfield Pipit (นกเด้าดินทุ่งเล็ก) and I went back to join my friends. They were still eating and I made one more slice of meat. It tasted very good so I had to have one for the road even though I was full.

My friend is making a second pot of tea and I enjoy some tea while he is doing the dishes.

Dishes are ready and my friend need to pick some vegetables before we go back to Bangkok. I don't know what it is he is collecting, but it is something growing along the ground and I watch him walking around with the plastic bowl to collect the stuff.

I enjoy some tea while he is collecting the veggies. When he is ready, we pack the things in the car and we leave for Bangkok.

I look for birds on the way to the paved road and I spot one Glossy Ibis flying over my friend's house. Otherwise, nothing exciting to report in my eBird app.

They called from Copenhagen and they need me to join a ship in Italy next week so it looks like my holiday have come to an end. Darn! I had been hoping for them to have forgot me.
