Aladdin's adventure aboard M/T Richard Maersk

Thursday 1 st of August 2013 and we completed loading at 07:48 and I had been up most of the night. So I was in a hurry to get out of here so I could go for a power nap. But it looks like we will have to stay here all day long waiting. Bunkers, they say it will take 4 hours to bunker + custom paper and stuff before we can go.

I finished the calculation and I had 30 minutes of sleep before they called me at 09:45
Aladdin's adventure in Novorossiysk with M/T Richard MaerskYet another Smiley on www.aladdin.st- Cargo documents on board
Yet another Smiley on www.aladdin.st- I'm coming

We finished the paper work by 11 and I went on the bridge to pester our 2nd Officer. We decided to bring out the honey forAladdin's adventure in Novorossiysk with M/T Richard Maersklunch and I instantly changed my plans to go for a power nap until after lunch.

And it was a very nice honey, actually it was soAladdin's adventure in Novorossiysk with M/T Richard Maersknice I had to change my shirt. I had honey all over the front of the shirt. Never mind, I was more worried about my diet. I had a power nap in the afternoon and when I got out offAladdin's adventure in Novorossiysk with M/T Richard Maerskbed at 5 thirty in the afternoon we were still bunkering.

I discovered a poster in the alleyway outside my cabin when I came back for dinner, something I obviously had missed on the way to the mess room.

RUSSIAN WEED and I discovered 2 packs of blue L&M I had asked our Mess Man if he had any blue L&M during the lunch. I knew he smoked blue L&M but he was out of fags as the rest of the crew after all these days here in Novorossiysk.

Our 2nd Officer had a friend that was coming over and he asked if I wanted him to bring some coffin nail.
- No thanks, I'm good

Bunkering of DO was going very slow, the pumped the DO through something that looked like a garden hose. So it looks to be a late departure.

Friday 2 nd of August 2013
and it was a glorious morning when I came on the bridge at 8 o'clock inAladdin's adventure on board M/T Richard Maerskthe morning. The crew could continue the chipping and painting of the flanges on the cargo pipes. And I watched them while enjoyingYet another Smiley on www.aladdin.stmy tea.

The Black Sea was full of Flippers jumping around us and it was quite a nice day. Our 4th Engineer came to borrow the water hose to fill up a drum with fresh water. He was going to test the outboard motor for the MOB boat and then we're required to have the propeller and cooling system in water. Well, time passed pretty quickly and it was soon time for lunch again.

Saturday 3 rd of August 2013
and we were approaching Istanbul and the Bosporus when I came on the bridge at 8 o'clock in the morning. We called Turkeli VTS and we were told that we would not pass until the evening. So we proceeded to the anchorage and we dropped anchor 13:27. My computer has a heavy list and I expect the darn thing to capsize and sink any day now. The machine in getting very hot and everything I very slow and then the computer turn off. Especially when I make the videos for YOU TUBE.

I told the guys that I had to go ashore to buy a new computer in Ereglisi. The guys told me that it was most likely dust preventing the fan to work properly cooling the computer. I decided to tryAladdin's adventure on board M/T Richard Maerskclean the computer and thus saving 2 -3000US $ for a new computer. The cleaning didn't turn out as I had hoped for.

But I came up with the ideaYet another Smiley on www.aladdin.stof the century. And this was a brilliant idea. I took some plastic duct and I connected the duct to one of the AC outlets in my cabin.

I was freezing cold while doing my videos, but the computer was back to same full effect as when I bought the lap top in Singapore. I will see if I can bring it ashore for cleaning, or I will do it back home in Bangkok. But I saved 2 -3000US $ with my idea so it is worth being a wee bit cold. I bought a video program, 70 US$ in Novorossiysk. I down loaded ProShow Gold with 3rd Officers telephone and the program require full cooling.

I discovered that the picture of our 4th Engineer had as many “CLICKS” as our 2nd Officer's extravagant (his own assertion) National Geographic standard night photo from last time we passedthe Bosporus. I informed him about this and this “CLICKS” was pretty much the same as

- You and your Nephew clicked your own pictures!
- This is Facebook bullsh** You should have the Russian VK and I would have millions of “CLICKS” And ONLY from beautiful girls!
I went down to my cabin and I made a VK clicker and I called him on the bridge.

Yet another Smiley on www.aladdin.st- I put a VK clicker so no more excuses!

Sunday 4 th of August 2013
and I was not asleep at 4 o'clock, tossin' and turnin' so I was half dead when my alarm went off at 7 thirty. I had a giant cup of tea when I came on the bridge at 8. It was a gorgeous morning and we were anchored outside Istanbul. We had passed BosporusAladdin's adventure in Istanbul with M/T Richard Maerskearly morning and we were now back at the Sea of Marmara.

The bunker boat was alongside and they were busy pumping fuel oil to us. I enjoyed my tea while watching Istanbul.

And I can only remember having being impressed by the size of a city twice. Cairo and Istanbul. I went from my hotel to the pyramids, 3 hours on the highway through Cairo, and we were running full speed for 3 hours through the city of Cairo. And we were still in the city when we reached the pyramids.

I had a flight from Istanbul back in 2006 when I left Rainbow Warrior, and when we took off I was amazed over the size of Istanbul. A huge city and I have never seen something like these 2 cities before.

Bangkok is a village in comparison and there live more people in Bangkok than in the whole of Sweden. Well, anyway, it was Istanbul for as long as I could see. We completed bunkering quarter past 9 and we left at 10:24 and we expect to arrive to Ereglisi around 15:00.

I was looking forward to go ashore in the evening and I was disappointed when the taxi wasn't allowed out on the jetty. I had planned to bring back a few cases of Diet MAX And there was no big shopping mall as our 2nd Officer had promised me. So I stayed on board saving money.

Monday 5 th of August 2013
and we were still discharging the first parcel when I came down to the CCR at 8 thirty in the morning. We completed the first parcel just before 12 o'clock and we resumed discharging at 12:12 and I went for my lunch.

I spent the afternoon testing our drinking water, hardness, pesticides, bacteria etc. Everything looked good, but I have to wait for 48 hours before I can interpret the result. Violet and it is OK, yellow and it is pure poison.PoisonBut until then I will continue to drink my tea.

Aladdin's adventure in Marmaraereglisi with M/T Richard Maersk
Richard Maersk discharging fuel oil at OPET Terminal in Marmaraereglisi

We missed the chance to go ashore yesterday, well, my plan was to go for some “FINE” dining and to (maybe) buy a few Diet MAX . But the whole idea ran in to a concrete wall when I learned thatAladdin's adventure in Marmaraereglisi with M/T Richard Maerskit was not possible to drive out to the jetty. And no way I will carry a few cases of Diet MAX all the way from the gate.

Our 2nd Officer and I decided to go ashore trying to find “FINE” dining and we were recommended to go to Silivri, a few kilometres from Marmaraereglisi towards Istanbul. We went ashore as soon as he was off duty at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. We walked to the gate, only a small walking bridge from the jetty ashore so it is really impossible to get any kind of transportation out to the ship. Well, maybe a pushbike
The guard called a taxi for us and we took a few pictures of Richard Maersk while waiting. The taxi was coming a few minutes later and he would bring us to the shopping mall in Silivri and backAladdin's adventure in Silivri, Turkey with M/T Richard Maerskfor 40€ And he would wait for us there while we checked out the place for “FINE” dining and computer shops.

I gave up the hope of finding any “FINE” dining pretty much the same second I stepped out the car in Silivri 20 minutesAladdin's adventure in Silivri, Turkey with M/T Richard Maerskafter leaving the OPTE Terminal in Marmaraereglisi with the taxi.

It was a beautiful highway along the coast and it looked brand new. I was pondering the idea to continue to Istanbul. But Silivri and the Shopping mall it was. We stepped out from the taxi and we were just outside 2 restaurants, looked like some fast food places and we entered the shopping mall to look for some restaurants.

There were three floors in the shopping mall and when we passed the second floor we saw the first beautiful girl. We came to the third floor and there were a few eateries, but nothing that lookedAladdin's adventure in Silivri, Turkey with M/T Richard Maersklike “FINE” dining. I saw a PEPEI sign and I was surprised. When we came here we stopped to buy something to drink at a convenient store.
- We don't have PEPSI in Turkey

But here was not only one, but two places with fridges saying PEPSI and I went to see if they had a Diet MAX . I bought a can and we left for the balcony to have a look at the view.
I left half of my Diet MAX on the balcony when we left, it didn't taste all that good.

We didn't find any restaurant so we returned to the third floor and we sat down to order. NoAladdin's adventure in Silivri, Turkey with M/T Richard MaerskDolma and we ordered something that looked good in the menu.

we got a basked with some bread, the first piece tasted strange but it was soon turning out to be the best bread I have had in a very long time. I asked for some olive oil and our 2nd Officer was soonasking for a second basket.

The food was OK, nothing to write home about, but OK. The bread was a smentioned excellent and we drank water with our food.

And there was a beautiful Waitress and I called her over. She had been around our table smilingYet another Smiley on www.aladdin.stsince we sat down. Our 2nd Officer was in love and I asked her for a picture together with our 2nd Officer. This was no problem and I got the picture.

Yet another Smiley on www.aladdin.stSomeone is in love

I had the picture and now there was nothing stopping him, he went on and on about a copy of the picture. He asked the girl if he could contact her on Facebook. She wrote down her name for him.
- Now you will soon have another follower from Turkey on your site, he said.

She served us complementary tea and dessert, and we could of course not say no. We were gettingAladdin's adventure in Silivri, Turkey with M/T Richard Maerskfull and we have planned to stop at a cafe for tea and sweets before going back on board.

We passed a place where they made Turkish sweets/ cookies when we looked for a restaurant.

The cookies looked very tasty and we bought two to try. I told them that this would be excellent with a pot of tea. They informed us that they sold the sweets/ cookies at the cafe outside the mall. So we went there after our dinner. Tea, coffee and a plate of the Turkish sweets/ cookies. Sounds like a perfect end on a nice evening ashore.

The whole tea and sweet thins set us back by 91,5 Turkish Lira and we felt pretty good when we left the place. We bought a box of sweets for our new 2nd Officer remaining on board. We took our bags and we left to look for the taxi driver. I had 2 big bags of vitamins. I emptied the supermarket of all their Magnesium lemon tasting fizzy tablets. A few hundred of them so I have enough to last me for a long time.

A friend had read about my trouble to fall asleep and my head ache. So she wrote to me and she recommended me to buy Magnesium tablets and to GIVE UP THE DIET DRINKS!!!!

I was also looking for omega-3 tablets and I found them in a drug store. I checked the nutritionalinformation and they contained both APA and DHA acid. The 2 most important omega-3 acids. I bought all the omega-3 tablets they had and this set me back by 150 US$. Now I have omega-3 and Magnesium to last me for 2 years.

We found the driver and we were soon on our way back to the OPET Terminal in Marmaraereglisi. We stopped to take a picture of the ship on the way. We had an agreement of 40€ with the driver but our 2nd Officer and I decided to give him 50€. He looked at me when I handed him the 50€ bill
- Turkish Lira?
The driver was afraid that he could not give Euro back in change. I told him to keep the change, Turkish people, always very friendly. Same when I was in Turkey with Rainbow Warrior, friendly people everywhere.
He was very happy and I dropped a few Euros worth of Turkish lira in the front seat for him

We walked from the gate back to the ship and our 2nd Officer wanted me to take pictures of him.
- Don't put these on your web page.
FacebookThis was obviously for his Facebook and I guess that he is expecting the Waitress to see them there. I could tell that the Waitress was disappointed that I didn't give her my Facebook. But I'm too old for Facebook.

We were back on board around 8 o'clock and we gave the Turkish sweets/ cookies to our new 2nd Officer in the CCR. And good news, looks like we will be ready around 10 o'clock tomorrow morning so no “middle of the night” adventure. I can have a good night’s sleep and we willYet another Smiley on www.aladdin.sthopefully be out of here early afternoon tomorrow.

I have had many complains about how hard it is to find stuff on my web page. And when we were in Novorossiysk our new 2nd Officer's mother complained. So I decided to do something about it. I have added a search function to my webpage and now it is possible to search www.aladdin.st whatever you need to find on www.aladdin.st.

I'm also making a new menu for my web page, a drop down menu with every year. And there is also a drop down menu with all the ships in alphabetical order. This is of course nothing that I will finish in a jiff, but I'm expecting to be ready in a few days. Then I hope that there won't be any complains about how hard it is to find stuff on my web page.

I was soon back in my cabin, yes, I skipped the extra Turkish sweet. I told 2nd Officer that we had to get darn serious with my diet now. We expect a new Lloyd's Register Trainee to come onAladdin's adventure with Omega-3 and magnesiumboard in a week. And according to e-mail from our previous Lloyd's Register Trainee she is very beautiful. So it is about time to get my SHOCK diet up and running.

So no more eating honey and toast, only omega-3 and magnesium and of course salad. I will soon go home and I need to look good when I step in to Sophia Muay Thai Gym and Bangkok Fight Club again. Never mind the Lloyd's Register Trainee, but I can't come back home looking like an anti aircraft balloon again.

Well, we expect to leave Marmaraereglisi tomorrow and what an excellent opportunity to split the month of August in to a second part .
