Tuesday 12 th of November 2013 and we were still anchored at Singapore OPL anchorage when my
alarm went off. But it was a gloomy and grey morning and there will not be any painting today because it didn't look like the drizzle would come to any stop soon.Well, we went through today's tasks and it was only the good morning TEAM building group hug remaining before I could chase the guys off out on deck. They guys were having their regular fight for a good position in the group hug when our Chief Engineer appeared in the door.

- ENOUGH ALREADY!! THERE IS ROOM FOR EVERYONE!!!
Chief Engineer joined the fight and I had to intervene or they would have continued all day long.
- Motherfoockers! There is room for everyone in the group hug!
Finally, we had our group hug and the “Good morning PEP” meeting came to an end. Our Pump Man
and Cadet purged the pumps while I did a work permit for the masts on monkey island.Yes, no painting today, it was raining all day long. But I had my constitutionals around the accommodation as usually. Takes more
than a drizzle to stop me.I was on the monkey island at 4 o'clock and we cut off the plastic cover from the wires. The last wire was down just a few minutes after 4 o'clock. The wires looked good, we will remove all plastic tomorrow to make sure. But random checks showed that the wires were like new. So no need to buy new ones, hopefully.
I only have 2 cans of Pepsi Light remaining and I came up with an excellent idea. Well, it
was an old idea. But the old COZY CORNER idea with the Milo capsized we me swelling up to look like a human balloon thanks' to all the Milo.But now I have my tea cups and I brought tea bags, milk and one of
my tea cups to my cabin after dinner. I turned on the kettle and I had hot water coming out from my shower.I enjoyed a bucket of tea before dashing off to the “after dinner” movie.
Hopefully better than yesterday, well, foocking impossible to be worse, that's for sure. We decided for a movie that started out to be really bad and we were about to give up. But the movie turned around after 30 minutes and it turned out to be a very good movie.And I had one Pepsi Light when I was back in my cabin, now I have one remaining for tomorrow morning. The problem is the size, they are very small and tonight's Pepsi light will be empty before I have finished the Learn Thai with Mod and the Alif Silpachai videos.

Wednesday 13 th

and I threw myself over my last Pepsi Light when my alarm went off. I ripped open the can and I had a sip, yet another sip while fumbling with my jars getting my vitamins ready.
I had the vitamins with my third sip of Pepsi Light.Hmm, thinking of
it, I haven't had my lemon flavoured magnesium “FIZZ” drink since I got my Pepsi Light in Singapore.I was both happy and not happy when I left my cabin. Last Pepsi Light is enough to turn my good mood in to a bad mood, but also happy.
Now I can live my new healthy life style for 100%. And the
new improved healthy “cozy corner” have turned in to an overnight success. I was having my by now, and actually since the last few days, only one slice of black bread and tea for breakfast. The “Best looking guy in town '13”
diet is WELL up and running, and it works better than all expectations.We started to heave up the anchor not long after our “Good morning PEP” meeting and we were soon on our way towards Melaka. Our pump Man and Cadet opened the covers to the “bitter end”
on the anchor chain so I could inspect them. And when they were ready they had to turn a knee on our tank cleaning/ cargo line.There is a direct connection between the cargo line and tank cleaning line and that means we can discharge cargo over board through our ballast system. This is not allowed and I had the Pump Man and Cadet to turn the knee and blind the lines.
I had to contact radio medical and I was busy with this and reporting until lunch time. My plan was for us to measure the wires on monkey island after lunch, but Pump Man was still busy with the knee. Fire drill at 15 thirty so we will have to do it after the drill. So I had to find something else to entertain myself with after lunch.

We had our fire drill at 15 thirty, fire in the engine room and we tested our water mist system.
They have a water mist extinguish system in addition to the CO2 system.And we were going to test the system today. It is operated by push buttons and we can choose different areas and there are many nozzles in each area. Except at the incinerator, there is only one nozzle so this was the best thing to test.
Only require one bucket and our Cadet was
chosen to hold the bucket when the mist system kicked in. Only fog coming out and it is possible to extinguish a big fire with only a few litres of water. We completed our drill at 16 thirty and I went to my cabin with Pump Man for a quick coffin nail before we went to monkey island to measure the wires.+++++++++++++++
Thursday 14 th
of November 2013
and we were anchored when I woke up, we had dropped anchor at 6 o'clock in the morning. I had a lemon flavoured magnesium “FIZZ” drinkwith my vitamins
instead of a Pepsi Light and it was not bad. At least I can imagine the lemon flavoured magnesium “FIZZ” drink being healthier than the Pepsi Light.A hot shower and I were off to have my morning bucket with tea and a (ONE) slice of black bread with cheese. Took me about 5 minutes to finish my breakfast and I stepped in to my office at 8 o'clock.Hmm, or a few minutes past.

We went through today's work and we were moving in for the good morning “PEP” and TEAM building group hug. And as usual there
was a lot of frolic and larks before I could get them in order. - ENOUGH ALREADY!!
They were quick to get in line and we had our group hug.
- OK!! OFF TO DECK!!
Our Pump Man and one of the ABs went up to monkey island to put back the wires on the aft mast. Of course, first we had to do a work permit and risk assessment. And I was surprised, the wires was back up in a jiff. Good crew and preparation so it was a quick job. A small problem with the last turn buckle, but they were ready before the coffee break. So I had our Pump Man available for more important jobs after 10 o'clock. It was like I got a few bonus hours out of him.

Well, I was pretty satisfied with the day when I went for my constitutional at 5 o'clock. It was a wee bit past 5 o'clock as I had filled up our Oil Spill Campaign questionnaire. But the crew had been
kicking behinds on deck during the day and
we look forward to a new day tomorrow. We sent a request for 6 new wires for the signal masts on monkey island and they willhopefully be delivered in Singapore next time discharging.Our, well, no names mentioned, was complaining about the food during dinner.
- DILL!! WHERE IS THE MOTHERFOOCKING DILL?
- You have to ask him for the dill, impossible for him to know that you want dill!
- I WANT DILL!! THERE SHOULD BE DILL!!
And our Hero came up with what must have been one of the greatest ideas ever. I told them that I would call my reliever and ask him to buy dill seeds and bring when he come to relieve me. The guys were instantly rising from the table and they stood up around the table screaming. They could not believe their ears. This was a brilliant idea.- BEST IDEA EVER!!!
We will ask the ship chandler to bring us soil and we will always have fresh dill. I stopped in the kitchen on my way back to the cabin. I told the Cook to throw the dill in the dough next time baking black bread. We have dill on board but this will only stay fresh for a few days. But instead of throwing the dill we can use it in the black bread. I had dill bread last time in Istanbul and
it was excellent. And now we can just imagine how much better our HOME GROWN dill will taste. And yet again, we're breaking new ground in Maersk Tankers.+++++++++++++++
Friday 15 th
of November 2013
and we were still anchored when my alarm went off @ 7 twenty. We were supposed to start loading today, but yesterday, when our Agent came on board yesterday he told us that loading would be on Saturday afternoon, EARLIEST. I had my lemon flavoured magnesium “FIZZ” drink and the vitaminsbefore going for my shower. And today I tried to have a short shower as they had complained that I was always late for breakfast.
I'm on diet! I only have a slice of bread and tea- But there is no blah-blah-bla at the breakfast table!
- OK, I will try to make it earlier tomorrow
So early I was, I stepped in to the mess room quarter to 8 and it was only our 2nd Engineer and Chief Engineer at the table. And it was all quiet around the table, so of course, their faces were
glowing of joy when I stepped in for my breakfast. I had finished my tea and slice of black bread 3 minutes after coming in to the mess room.- So what now? I asked
I could have a second slice of black bread with cheese, but I have to think about my diet. Not enough time to go back to my cabin so what to do, except looking at other people eating. Yeah, that's the way to go when on diet.
We held an Oil Spill Drill after the coffee break, it was the last scenario on the oil spill prevention campaign 2013. And when we were ready we held an emergency towing drill. Well, it was more to inform the crew on how to use the equipment. Nothing much to train on, as you can see on the picture below it is quite some wire. Nothing we take in and out for training purpose.

We were ready just in time for lunch, well, I was late for lunch and 2nd Engineer was sitting at
his place when I came in to the mess room.- THERE IS DILL!!
- Where?
I looked around but I could not see any dill. But he had the bowl at his place. But there was nothing I liked for lunch, fried salmon or ribs.
Nothing I fancied so I had 2 slices of black bread. And as I didn't have anything for lunch I said no when 2nd Engineer asked if I wanted dill.
- Try, it is good!
- I only eat the bread
- Have some dill on the bread!
I tried some dill on the bread and it was actually quite good. But I didn't have time to sit down for long, there was some cargo calculations to do. Later on in the afternoon we got next voyage confirmed. Loading Hydrowax here for a place in Malaysia just passing Singapore.
Exciting, things start to happen and we have voyages for a few days now, not time to sit down relax, good! We watched our “after dinner” movie and when we were ready I returned to my cabin and the Learn Thai with Mod and the Alif Silpachai videos. Our 2nd Engineer told me to be at the breakfast at 07:45.
- Yeah, what happens at 07:45? Are we going to play the silence game?
- We see, we see, always something exciting going on in the mess room in the morning
- OK, let's see.Hmm, maybe, if I don't have anything better to do, like sleeping.

Saturday 16 th
of November 2013
and I was stepping in to a quiet mess room at 07:46. Only Chief Engineer at the table but 2nd Engineer came for breakfast 2 minutes after me. I gave him a sullen
look pointing at the watch.
- You're late!
And as it is Saturday I had some freshly made buns with honey and tea. I had a plate of bacon, but it didn't taste as good as I had imagined and I never finished the bacon.
I stepped in to my office at 8 o'clock, well, it was 1 minute before 8 and the crew was waiting.

We have no news regarding the berthing so the crew
was not working any overtime today so they are full of vim just in case we will go alongside tonight.We started to have a look at the windows in our Chief Engineer's cabin yesterday and today they were going to start changing the windows.
I had expected a few hours per window so I was very happy to learn that 3 windows were changed before lunch. Well, as I use to say: If you're going to kick ass you call the ass kickers. But there was some other bad news for
lunch. Our Cook had made pastries and the mess room was filled by thousand different pastries and cakes.- There is a bowl of whipped cream for you, Mess Man said.
- What the
- You like whipped cream
- Yeah, but this is a foocking cubic ton!
I guess they got me back for complaining about the Saturday food, but Chief Engineer thought it was funny though.
- Now you can eat!
- Well, will most likely kill me after my twigs and bark diet the last few Saturdays!
What the f***! Is it Christmas?
I thought it was vanilla pudding or something, but it was 10kg of whipped cream. F***ing sabotage!
We continued to change the windows in Chief Engineer's cabin after lunch and it went very well and we decided to start with the last window as well. Better to finish this today, never know when we
get the next chance. And we got the latest berthing prospects after the coffee break, berthing on Monday. The cargo is ready but there is another ship at the jetty.We finished the 3 windows in his living room and I went to get the vacuum cleaner.
Chief Engineer were still busy with the last window in the office, but we could finish up the cleaning in the living room.The guys could not believe me when I came back to Chief
Engineer's cabin with the vacuum cleaner. I fired up the vacuum cleaner and I got started with the vacuuming.- What the- WHAT?
- Chief Officer vacuuming!
Dinner, too much again and I will change my diet bet tomorrow (most likely) to include Saturdays in the diet bet, at least regarding desserts and cookies etc. Well, actually, I will do it right now. Yes, now it is done, no more desserts or sweets for me, and that's even if they find Elvis Presley alive. OK, a made a footnote, if Elvis is coming on board for dinner the diet bet is off. But only then! So this was my last whipped cream on board Roy Maersk and I already feel smaller.

Sunday 17 th
of November 2013
and we were going to have a management meeting after lunch. Me and Captain were ready at 12 thirty but our Engineers were still eating ice cream. Captain and I
had time for a quick cancer stickI also had time to post my amended diet bet in the mess room and it didn't take long before the attention were drawn towards the diet bet.
No more whipped cream and desserts so Saturdays will pretty much be like ordinary weekdays. I can change the black bread for white bread if I want, but I like the black bread better. Our Chief Engineer had complained about is diet.
- I'm not losing any weight
I asked if he wanted me to add his name on the bet
- Yeah, but not until next week
- That's tomorrow
So I told him that we could add his name after the management meeting and he would be on for

and I stepped in to a quiet mess room 10 minutes before 8
o'clock, 3 Engineers around the table. I made myself a bucket of tea and a slice of black bread with
cheese. I managed to get the BLAH-BLAH going and we got a few minutes of chatting out of the breakfast before it was time to take off for the “Good morning PEP”
meeting in my office.And the crew were delirious with anticipation when I
stepped in to my office, Sunday yesterday and no group hug.- Assholes and Motherfoockers!

My top gun was sent on window detail and we painted the last cream spots on deck with red deck paint. Expect to come alongside today so we want the deck dry before arrival. One of the ABs
were on greasing detail. A good morning “pep” and TEAM building group hug before
the crew was kicked out on deck for a day of hard work.- Foock off out off here!
I got started with our new NPDES binder that will come in to effect on the 19th of December. Hundreds of pages to print and I had to read 136 pages in a new Training
binder. Everything was ready just in time for the lunch break.And no news about our berthing, what a waste of time. Well, maybe not, we could not start any big job and our Pump Man started to mark our valves on deck. Jobs we can do while waiting. He painted the end of the valve shaft red and then he used a white paint marker for the position notch. And when he was ready we got new berthing prospects, late tomorrow night. So I had the crew to prepare the windows in the crew's TV room for tomorrow. We will hopefully
be able to change the windows there tomorrow.

Dinner and I was told that my reliever could not make it in time, he could be back earliest mid January. Well, we have 4 crew members in a hotel in Singapore and I sent them an e-mail asking them to bring 8 cases of Pepsi Light when they join the ship in Singapore. Now we only hope they get the e-mails. I'm already looking forward to Singapore.

Tuesday 19 th
of November 2013
and we were still anchored when I woke up. Latest news is berthing late tonight. So I had 3 of our best guys to start changing windows in the crew's TV
room straight after our “Good morning PEP”
meeting.They had changed 2 windows before the coffee break and I was expecting us to be ready with the crew's TV room and our 3rd Officer's cabin today. And then we only have 3 windows remaining in our TV room.
So I was in a pretty good mood, at least until 11 o'clock when we got the news: Pilot will come on board at 12 o'clock.
So we had to stop the work with only 3 windows replaced. Anchor was up at 11:54 and the Pilot came on oard at the same time.
We had first line ashore at Ocean Berth #1 at 12:54 and all fast at 13:30 and I had to wait until after 2 o'clock before the Surveyor came on board and we could start with the paper work and tank inspection. Loading Master didn't came on board until 15:30 and by then I
was on my second loading plan.I had finished the first one when suddenly our Surveyor came up with the information that they would add some chemicals to the cargo for the first 5 hours and we needed to mix it.
Second plan was ready at 17:30 and we started loading at 1:24 expecting us to be ready in the middle of the night with the bulk. Then we will have to do a line flush with 1100m³ cargo. So we expect to leave early tomorrow morning and we will arrive to Singapore tomorrow night. Straight to the jetty after dropping the
anchor for clearance etc. Busy busy after more than one month of picking nose and scratching behind. And time is quick, this day passed by in a jiff.Well, first cargo operation for a long time and it is about time to split the month of November 2013 in to a third part . So hang on!
