Tuesday 11 th of August 2015 and I recognised the 2nd Officer in the CCR. We had been together on Roy Mærsk. Off signing Chief Officer was soon in the CCR and we went to his cabin where I had 2 cans of Diet Pepsi. I had brought 3 cans in my bags together with 12 kilo of oatmeal and 8 or 10 packs of the Rooibos tea. Seems like we're going to stay here for long so I might go ashore tomorrow, just a quick run to Pick n Pay to bring some more diet drinks.

Wednesday 12 th
of August 2015
and my alarm went off quarter past 7, lucky me as they forgot to call me to wake me up. I had a shower and I felt good, most likely because I had been sleeping very well. And of course, I was kind of happy to be on board. I went down for breakfast and then I spent the day in my office checking all paper works, requisitions. We had an e-mail about a batch
of Turbohalers AstraZenica had sent out. They had found one empty Turbohaler and the whole batch was withdrawn.I checked our hospital but we have a different batch on board so this was no problems. Time was kind of slow.
Off signing Chief Officer left us at 10 o'clock. And we had a MLC Inspector coming on board for an inspection. I had the crew to study the safety alerts, fleet circulars and other safety information/ instructions.
We had done it last time I was on board, but there is a few new crew members and they can all read it as well as the old crew might need a refresher. So the crew were reading and we discussed safety aspects of the different jobs and situations on board.
Our Painters and Pump Man are ashore and I hope they bring back diet drinks. I joined Tuesday morning and I brought 3 cans of Pepsi. Monday was a holiday and I had been to 3 Pick N Pay
in Cape Town and they are now out of stock.But the holiday have come to an end and they might have replenished and I hope they bring back drinks for the full 100 Dollar bill I gave them. Later on we had two Engineers and a Electrician going ashore to see the Table Mountain. I told them to bring back diet drinks if they passed any Pick N Pay store on the way back from Table Mountain
Our Heroes are back with Diet MAX
Dinner and the Painters and our Bosun were back. They had found Diet MAX and they had emptied the Pick N Pay shop, but they ha dnot managed to finish the 100 Dollar bill and I had 540 Rand
remaining. Well, I might go ashore for a quick tour to another Pick N Pay shop tomorrow.I was on deck around 6 thirty in the evening for a tour on deck with the Inspector. We're loading just below the Devil's Peak and the Table Mountain. Devils top was sticking out from a cloud and there was a cloud covering the cable car station. Looked very nice.
And I had time to learn Thai with Mod and the Alif Silpachai videos in the evening. OK maybe more listening than looking as I have other more important things to do.

Thursday 13 th
of August 2015
and I was fully rested when my alarm went off at 7 fifteen. Still loading and it is with a slow rate of about 300 something per hour. Our Agent were on board and I
asked how far I could come with a taxi on the jetty. I explained that I had 540 Rand and not enough Diet MAX
.He suggested that he would bring back some for me and I gave him the cash thinking that I would never see him
again. A little later ha was back and he slammed a tray of Diet MAX
down on the table in my office.And he had some of my “TOP GUNS” coming after carrying more of the bottled temptations. Well, he have been emptying a Pick N Pay shop in town so it was a mix
of bottles and cans, so it might be more appropriate to call it the “liquid” temptation.And as Pick N Pay are the only store carrying Diet MAX in Cape Town, at least what I have found, and believe me I have been around looking. Anyway, my guess is that we have managed to drain a few of the Pick N Pay shops Diet MAX stock to zero.
And we have
hopefully thought them a lesson about stock keeping, inventory and replenishing. Well, I don't hold my breath, but in their defence. It had been a long holiday. We expect to be ready on Sunday, this is the latest.I have had so many loading orders during the day. Maximum 27500 MT and then Minimum 27500. Maximum 32500MT and when I went for dinner it was Maximum 27500 again. We will see what they have for us tomorrow.
And I might be on to something here, my second evening learning Thai with Mod and the Alif Silpachai videos. I have planned to open my books after departure from Cape Town.

Friday 14 th
of August 2015
and we were not loading when I came to the CCR at 8. They had stopped the first parcel 20 minutes before 11 o'clock yesterday evening. And they wanted to
disconnect the cargo arm.I had been in the CCR for not very long before there was a bunker barge arriving. Originaly planned for after the loading operation, but as we're just laying here waiting we can as well take the bunker.
I was busy in the morning with risk assessments and tool box meeting. And then I started to test our cargo computer, every single load condition has to be keyed in by hand and then we compare the result with the approved test conditions.
Friday night and not much happening around here. The boys had a chance to go ashore and it was hard to recognise some of them. Actually, some of them were quite handsome and what a difference form seeing them in dirty boiler suits every day.
Well, it is Friday and I could not help to think about the Singles Friday that have come to Bangkok, should have come by now. Yeah, they have come up with desperate ideas to make money.
Single Fridays is coming to Bangkok??!!

and we were still not loading when I came down to the CCR at 8 o'clock in the morning, and no news when to start. Well, looks like we will be in Cape Town a little longer. Much longer than expected. Well, as soon as we start I have the opportunity to go ashore to use internet. The internet on board is of no use.

Sunday 16 th
of August 2015
and we were supposed to start loading today. They came to connect the arm at 12 thirty but they stopped the work due to strong winds over Cape Town. But finally at 16:36 we started to load. Line displacement and we canhopefully start the second parcel around midnight. And as we have started loading I can go ashore with my lap top tomorrow for some internet business. And this can be done at a nice restaurant with WIFI.+++++++++++++++
Monday 17 th
of August 2015
and I had my alarm to go off quarter past 8 but it was almost 9 before I was out of bed. We have finally started the second and last parcel and I was not in bed until almost 2 o'clock in the morning.Well, at least we can see an end to it now. Expect to be ready tomorrow evening and we can leave Cape Town on Wednesday morning and that will be nice, darn nice. It is getting boring to stay here by now. Our Pump Man and I have a little remaining to inspect on the tank deck and we got started after the coffee break. And it was a gorgeous day with blue sky and sunshine.
The Seaman's Chaplain came on board just before lunch and he told me that I could come ashore with him. I need to pay some bills and some other stuff on the internet. And as we don't have any
internet on board I needed to come ashore. This was perfect, our 3rd Officer was going ashore as well so we got a ride to the Seaman's mission after lunch. We said thanks for the ride and we went in to the Seaman's mission.I asked for internet and it was 10 Rand per 30 minutes and I asked if I could pay with card.

Seriously, the port is full of ships coming from all over the world. And who the
is carrying a 10 Rand note in the pocket? I was, well, what to say? I took a taxi to town and we stopped at an ATM. I paid the
driver 50 Rand and I went to Mondiall.The new and revised plan was to go to Mondiall to have a pot of tea and
to use their WIFI. I, of course, they handed me a menu when I asked for a pot of Rooibos tea and I was soon having a plate of different pastries in front of me.I had 4 or 5 pots of the Rooibos tea before I was ready with the internet. OK, I had two plates of the Chef's recommended desserts. The last plate had an additional bowl of whipped cream.
On the NOT SO GOOD front was that all staff recognized me when I stepped in to Mondiall. And I had not been there for quite a while by now. Anyway, it was a nice afternoon and I enjoyed my
stay at Mondiall. I also had a new itinerary
for the tiger safari in India. I had asked Made in Africa if they could set something up for me this very upcoming winter.I left the V & A Waterfront and I went to the taxi stand to get a taxi back to Romø Mærsk. We passed the gate and we were driving along the docks but we could not find the gate for the oil port. We asked and the security staff didn't spoke any English. We made a U-turn and at the next gate there wasn't any security personnel. We drove inside and we were
soon on the road guarded by the security personnel that didn't spoke any English. Well, we were in the port without having passed any security.At the gate to our jetty the taxi was stopped and I had to walk. Turned out that our Surveyor was in the car behind us and I got a ride with him.
Table Mountain and the Devil's Point really looked gorgeous with the clouds coming up from behind. It looked like they clouds were running down the mountains towards the city. I had a chat with our Surveyor before going back on board and I was back on board 3 hours after I had left the ship.

Tuesday 18 th
of August 2015
and we were still loading with about 300m3/h when I came down to the CCR. Well, we expect to be ready in the evening and that means a full night of paper work etc. So I tried to get some sleep in the afternoon. And of course, I had just got in bed when they called me, time for a drug test.We completed the loading at 20:48 and we had several hours of paper work to look forward to. But most of all I look forward to the departure tomorrow. First discharge port Tamatave on Madagascar. And we just have to click HERE to find yourself in the middle of that adventure.
