Thai Airways flight TG 308

Tuesday 10 th of April 2018 and I had my usual wake-up call at 4 o'clock. Breakfast at 6 thirty and I had until 10 thirty to pack my bags. The Tiger Tops representative was here to pick me up at 10 thirty. There was a conference or something going on so we had to walk out on the street where the car was waiting.

We took off towards Kathmandu Tribhuvan International and it was kind of heavy traffic so it took quite some time to get to the airport. And the queue to the security check to get in to the terminal was, well, it was very very long. But Tiger Tops Representative, shamelessly lead me up front and I could soon check-in to Thai Airways flight TG 320.

I asked for a seat on the left side of the airplane and I can see Mount Everest flying back to Suvarnabhumi International in Bangkok.

I was in the launch eating peanuts and drinking soda water killing time until departure. I left for the gate and as no surprise, Thai Airways was delayed, AGAIN! We were one hour ++ late with the departure. Waiting in line at the gate.

Time was very slow waiting in the line. Departure time and we were still in the line, and no sign of any boarding to start any time soon. Finally, the opened the door and the ladies in wheelchairs were rolled out on the tarmac with me behind. We reached the boarding stairs. Still not ready for boarding and we had to wait on the tarmac.

The door was closed so it was only we waiting at the stairs when the remaining passengers were looking at us through the big windows.

I got a bottle of water and I took my seat on the left hand side and I was hoping to see Mount Everest after take-off. I was enjoying myself in my seat watching the remaining passengers boards the plane. Boarding completed and we taxi out on the runway and I was looking at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International terminal building disappearing behind us.

It looked gloomy and grey so I suspected that we might miss the Mount Everest view. We reach the runway and we're soon in take-off position. BOOM! And we're airborne leaving Kathmandu Tribhuvan International behind and below us. And as Bangkok is in the opposite direction we make a U-turn over Kathmandu and I get a good look over Kathmandu and the Boudhanath Stupa.

There is a note in the galley, passenger in seat 11A want 2 cups of Earl Grey coming during the whole flight

They brought me two cups of Earl Grey and I started a movie, and what a turkey this movie turned out to be. Said comedy, but it was a real sleeping pill about someone making a movie. The dinner was good and I had a few more cups of Earl Grey tea. We were soon approaching Suvarnabhumi International and I cannot remember ever having seen the airport so empty. It was like a ghost airport. No passengers at the immigration so that was a quick affair.

It is low season, but I had expected much more people at the airport. But good for me, it didn’t take long before I was in an AOT Limousine on my way home.

I will take these days sitting in my room and check the bird pictures from Nepal. I had time for one session with ปีศาจแดง ก.กุมานนท์, the Red Devil at Chaiyasit Muay Thai Gym before they closed down for the Songkran. 13 + 14 + 15 April and I will have to stay in my room.

Throwing water was fun back in the days when I was young and drunk. Today it is only a pain and I prefer to stay away hiding in my room. But I was lucky, they called me on Friday night and I will join Rita Mærsk in Si Racha, ศรีราชา on Sunday morning. Perfect, 2 hours in a taxi to get there and I will be back home for bear and wolf adventures in Finland/ Sweden. Most likely my last visit to Sweden as they have destroyed this country beyond recognition.

And of course, bicycling along the Kiel Canal to look for birds and ships. So this was perfect, but the best was to join the ship without even coming close to any airport.

I left my room on Saturday afternoon to walk to Tops Supermarket on Sukhumvit Soi 19. I managed to get there and to come back home again without getting drenched in water. One small girl, maybe 6 years old sprayed after me but as I was on the other side of the road and the water hardly reached me.

Lucky, they called me and they needed a Chief Officer immediately and I left Bangkok going to Sriracha to join a tanker. Click HERE for more about that.
