Aladdin's adventure Yala National Park - Block 1
Thursday 18 th of May 2017 and it was a beautiful morning and time passed really quickly and it was soon time for lunch. We stopped at a different place today as I had complained about the last lunch break place. It felt like being grit blasted in the sand storm. Now we ended up at a river/ creek and it looked beautiful. No sign of any angry buffaloes so maybe I could explore the area.

Our lunch break area

My Guide/ Driver told me that the terrible noise was from the insect we had seen the Kingfisher and Bee-eater eating earlier today. I took off to go look for the insect. Should be easy, there must be millions of them according to the noise. It would be nice to find one of them so we can see what the birds are eating.

I walked around and I found no insects. The forest guard brought me a dead insect, but it wasn't the insect making the noise so it was, well, I never bother to take any picture of the dead insect. Anyway, this lunch place was much better than yesterday. 90 minutes passed very quickly, especially since I found some new friends that I could feed.

We had company of a jeep that arrived after us. A professional photographer and they had seen 25 leopards the last 10 days. Well, where have the leopards been when we have been looking for them? We were soon on our way again and we spotted more of the Yellow-wattled Lapwing.

The Yellow-wattled Lapwing really like to stand on cow dung, I don't know why. But they were always walking towards the cow dung, they went up and then they just stand there looking around.

We passed a tree with a Yellow-crowned Woodpecker or Mahratta Woodpecker nest. I took many pictures, but they all turned in to shit. Yeah, one of those days. But we made a mental note to come back here tomorrow again to try our luck.

We have had exactly zero luck with the leopards. And tomorrow we're going to another park where the chance to see leopards are very small. I hope I get to see at least one leopard before i go back home. I have seen so much beautiful bird life, but to go back home without seeing at least one leopard would be a disappointment.
