Well, the flag of Skåne, just a BONUS flag.
Monday 9thof October 2017and my alarm went off at 5 o'clock. I didn't see any Gicko lizard today, but I really hopewe have luck with the whales anyway. We left the jetty and westarted to search for whales right on. We were lucky and we were soon spotting a mother and a baby Humpback whale. And we're alone. We were soon locating the spot where the Humpback whale stopped and we went in.

The baby was really playful and she came up to swim right next to us. Two of us got “SMACKED” by the fluke, but no pain. Only an easy touch so they were happy about the experience. I took (tried, VERY hard to take pictures from the moving boat) of them and then you can really see how big the whales are.
Just seeing the whales in the water, like the whale shark and you cannot see how big they are as there is nothing to compare with.
Huge whale, can you see the yellow flipper on the left hand side?
What an amazing start of the day!!!! Priceless!!! What an experience to bring with us from Tonga. The Humpback whales, if they would not have liked us they would have ducked off out of there. But the baby was swimming and playing with us. And I think you can see that the whales are enjoying themselves on the videos.
We left the whales and we went to a beautiful beach to have our lunch. I took the opportunity for some snorkelling while having lunch.

After lunch we went to see a few caves and an island with sea birds, pretty boring after all the whale action. We were back at the van early and we got off at Vava'u Villa at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. I took the opportunity to go look for the Tongan Whistler.
I walked through the forest from the hotel and when I reached the water i had seen exactly zero birds. But I had heard a lot of them. And at the water I spotted yet another Pacific Kingfisher. And yes, not long time ago I would have been excited to see a Pacific Kingfisher. But now I have seen so many. But it is a beautiful bird.

I wanted to see the Pacific Imperial Pigeon after last Sunday's failure to get good pictures of the bird. I played my bird song on my small portable Bluetooth loudspeaker, the JBL Clip. I saw 2 birds where they always sit, in the top of a very high tree. The birds came closer to investigate where their friend was. They were pretty close, but covered by branches so the picture was not any good. But I didn't give up.
I ran in to one of the birds again, now I was so excited the pictures was way overexposed. But I managed to save them in Photoshop. This was my 12th identified bird here on Vava'u. I will have another opportunity tomorrow night to look for the Tongan Whistler, the bird I really want to see.
And I have really got ALL IN to look for the Tongan Whistler, hell, we’ almost got stuck out in the wilderness yesterday. But with my luck...
