Sunday 12 th of November 2017 and Chief Officer and Mess Man left in the same boat we had come with. My stuff was soon in my cabin and it was nice to finally be able to set down my bag, and the boxes. Now it is time to sleep after a very long day on the go.

Jaha, nu ska det bäras igen

I had set my alarm to go off at 7 but I used the snooze function until 9 o'clock. When I came down to the CCR there were still no news or any berthing prospects. I prepared the paper work, the off signing Chief Officer had already prepared everything. But now I had time to go through the loading plan etc. By the time I went to bed we hadn't got any berthing instructions.

and we kicked off the day with a tool box/ safety meeting in theYet another Smiley on www.aladdin.stCCR. We completed the meeting and we did the good morning gymnastics before we went on deck. The guys had missed the morning exercises, but we took it slowly before we're getting used to it. Nice and easy to avoid injuries and back pain.

They guys, well, as we can get the Pilot any time we didn't started any new jobs. Greasing for the crew and the Painters continued with the chipping. Pump Man and I took a tour on deck to plan for some of the jobs that needs to be done on the way to Vietnam.

I could take care of business as soon as I was alone in the CCR

We will only load about 2000 MT so it will be a very quick loading, I expect around 3 hours, then of course paper work that I expect to take way longer than the loading. I was busy doing super important stuff when our Cadet came. He have a book form school that he need to fill up. So he was in the CCR looking for information. Flipping through books and looking at posers. Of course, nothing that makes you become the “Hard working Mr. Dynamite” of the month.

But it is a photo opportunity and his wife will, well, maybe, happy for the effort we're putting in to updating them back home in Denmark, about the adventure our Cadet had taken off to on the other side of the world. Far far away from home.

I had the 2nd and 3rd Officer to come to the CCR after lunch. Super important documents and paper work to sign and they were both down for lunch so I took the opportunity. I will have the crew to stop work at 3 o'clock in the afternoon as we expect to come alongside around midnight or early morning. Will our hero be able to fall asleep in the evening?

I will have my dinner, I have a pretty good set up with a box for my oatmeal and we're just waiting for provision so I can get some bran to mix in the oatmeal. And it is time to put up the diet bet in the mess room any day now. They are already talking about Christmas candy so no time to lose. So it is about time now to get serious “again”

and I was out of bed 10 minutes before 4 o'clock. I woke up quarter to 3 the first time. I had been lucky, I went to bed at 8 and I managed to fall asleep. We never knew when the Pilot would board so I was lucky, I could hear the engine running when I went out of bed to make tea. Typical would have been to fall asleep, wake up at 11 to sit and wait all night long in the cabin for the Pilot.

But today I was very luck and I finished my tea and shower, grabbed a bottle of MAX and I went to the bridge. We're passing Tanjung Pelepas container terminal approaching ATB Terminal where we will load the HFO. It was raining, but not so bad. But enough to make me happy that I didn't had to go out there. We had the first line ashore at 05:06

Surveyor and Loading Master were on board at 05:40 and we did all the paper work. They will empty and strip a shore tank so it will take about 4 to 5 hours to load. 3 hours of paper work and we expect to be on our way towards Vietnam in the late afternoon.

Paper work and tank inspections was ready before 7 but they were not ready to start loading. We started to load at 08:12 and I was back in my cabin at 9 o'clock for an hour or two of rest before we will be completing the loading.

They called me at 11 o'clock again, expected to be ready around 11 forty five. I had not managed to fall asleep, my alarm had just went off and I had turned on the snooze. So it was right up to open a MAX . Terminal stopped loading at 11:24 and now we had to start with the paper work, and waiting for paper work. Most of the time was spent waiting and we could finally leave Tanjung Bin just after 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

I was up to the bridge after dinner and I ran in to “full action” Our Cadet is on watch with the 2nd Officer so I got both of them on a few “action” pictures. Exactly the kind of picture we have missed. And my guess is that the wives have missed the “action” pictures and thus have come under the impression that they are having a good time.

it is more than 100meters deep around the Dai Hung Terminal so we never dropped the anchor waiting for the terminal to be ready to receive the cargo. Well, our cargo will be used as bunker for the FSU Dai Hung Queen. They are normally loading crude oil here, but this time we will discharge the fuel oil through the floating hose.

We expect to have Pilot around 6 o'clock tomorrow morning, or with the first day light at it is DAY LIGHT navigation only here. Anyway, this promise to be an exciting operation.

It was soon 5 o'clock and I went to the bridge to see how things were going for our 2nd Officer and Cadet. Our 2nd Officer was busy drilling our Cadet as the Cadet have to learn as much as possible during his time on board.

and they called me at 6 o'clock in the morning. We were approaching the Dai Hung Terminal and the Pilot was on the way. My alarm had been set to go off at 5 and I had been up since 5 thirty. So I had already have had my shower.

Pilot came on board at 07:20 from a supply ship together with a mooring gang, Surveyor, Loading Master, our Agent and some Authorities. We will do a tandem mooring at the FSU Dai Hung Queen, just as we remember from the adventure on board Richard Mærsk in Tunisia a few years ago. So we will need to have a tug boat connected in the aft during the whole operation.

Aladdin's adventure on board M/T Roy Mærsk/ Roy Maersk
Our Heroes having their breakfast

We connected the tug boat at 08:18 while our heroes had their breakfast. We had some time to go before we would reach the FSU Dai Hung Queen and I did some of the paper work with the Surveyor. We can discharge with a maximum of 1,7 Bars, about 300 m3 per hour so we expect it to take around 8 hours to bunker the FSU Dai Hung Queen.

So it looks to be yet another late evening here on board Roy Mærsk. We will see when we can get started with the discharging,Yet another Smiley on www.aladdin.sthopefully around 12 o'clock. We have no loading orders after the discharging so we will stay here in Dai Hung drifting awaiting orders.

I have already made the pre-drill planning for our drills so we will have a little something to do here while waiting for the next cargo.

I was in the CCR when they called. I went out to the manifold to discuss on how to get on board the hose with our Loading Master. They don't have any small boats out here and thus we will need to fish for the messenger lines, both to the floating cargo hose and for the mooring chain. We were soon going forward as we were approaching FSU Dai Hung Queen.

Too a while to manage to get the messenger on the hook. Then we started to heave up, first a small rope and then a bigger rope and then, yet again a bigger rope attached to the chain link.

We made fast the chain in our chain stopper on the fo'c's'le and we went back to start work with the cargo hose. I kept myself busy while they were working with the cargo hose. And we had pretty much completed all the paper work by the time the cargo hose was finally connected on our manifold.

and we started the day by having a management meeting. I woke up kind of late as we had advanced the ship's time by an hour during the night. I have printed my new “Diet Bet” and it will come up on the bulkhead in the mess room tomorrow. Why on earth did I carry around boxes of oatmeal when coming on board? Yes, to lose weight by eating healthy.

So the bet will be kicked in to effect tomorrow and I will soon obtain my V-shaped torso. So today was like my last dinner and when I was ready I went on the bridge. Gorgeous weather and the sea was like a windmill pond. I had a picture or two and I was off to my cabin to continue the plans for my next holiday adventure.

Wildlife tour in Rumania and Poland to look for Bison, Bears, Wolves, Lynx plus beavers in the Carpathians and the Bialowieza Forest. And while there I want to do a bicycle tour along the Kiel Canal, both directions and I have planned to stay there for 3 nights. So all in all around 1 month.

I left the bridge to go continue the plans to thick off two more items on my list of things to do before I'm getting too old. And I'm in a hurry to complete the list.

• To experience a hangover
• African safari
• To see Polar bears and icebergs
• Whale sharks “Failed”
• Tiger safari
• Whale sharks(second try)
• Koala and Kangaroo adventure in Australia
• Swimming with Humpback whales
• Antarctica
• The Amazon in Brazil
• Kiel - Brunsbüttel - Bicycling along the Kiel Canal
• Wildlife tour in Sweden and the Carpathian Mountains (Poland and Romania)

So this is how I kill time on board, planning for my next adventure, but as I left the bridge I ran in to the Cadet coming in to the bridge. We haven't had any pictures for his wife in a while so we might get something today. We don't want to disappoint his wife.

and we had dropped our anchor at Singapore OPL anchorage when I came down 8 o'clock in the morning. We will have some of our annual surveys on Wednesday so we will stay here until tomorrow afternoon. They need to arrange technicians and Lloyd's Surveyors to come on board.

We will take this opportunity to have some of our drills while waiting. So we will have 5 drills today.
1) Fire drill
2) Oil spill drill
3) Rescue from enclosed space
4) Defribelator training
5) EMERGENCY - Cargo leaking in to adjacent space

So yes, it promise to be an exciting day on board Roy Mærsk. We collected all the garbage we need to land here in Singapore while waiting for the drills to start. We have 2 big 30 kg wheeled powder extinguishers that we will scrap. So we will take the opportunity to discharge them during the drill. The excitement, there is just no end to it.

We were ready in time for lunch, and as my new DIET BET is on the wall in the mess room I had just a “light” meal. It have been some oatmeal today and I felt good after the meals, instead of being full of agony after having been eating ice cream and tons of bread with tons of Nutella. Not good for my V-shaped torso. Anyway, time turned quickly and it was soon time for a shower and a cup of tea before the dinner.

The evening was spent in my cabin killing the boredom planning my next adventure, European wildlife adventure with Bears, Lunx, Beavers and Wolfs in the Bialowieza Forest and the Carpathians. I have also found a company, Wheel 2 Wheel. They offer a Kiel Canal Self-Guided Cycling Holiday. 600 - 800 € for 5 nights.

I will cycle by myself but the money is for renting the bicycle and hotel room. So yes, I'm getting more and more exciting by the day as this promise to be fun. And I might have a chance to stop by at Österns Pärla in Helsingborg for some Swedish spring rolls. And BOOM!!! There goes my diet!

and we're still anchored when we get started with the good morning gymnastics in the CCR at 8 o'clock. Behinds were soon swinging in the CCR and when we had worked up our pulse we took our seats around the table. A tool box/ safety meeting with the crew before we could start today's job.

I sent the crew on deck and I kept our Pump Man and one of the AB's to assist our 2nd Officer to connect the life boat to the davit hooks. First they had to climb a mast to change the navigation light, so there was a lot of paper work to be done before they could start the job.

When they were ready in the mast we had another meeting and they could climb the life boat davit. Busy busy and time turned really quick. Suddenly it was 11 o'clock and we started to heave up our anchor. We will arrive to Singapore anchorage tonight and tomorrow we will have all the Technicians and Surveyors coming on board tomorrow morning.

So we will be busy tomorrow, stores and provision. Will my snus arrive? It is on the bill from Wrist, but have they managed to get the snus from Europe in 2 days? We wrote them an e-mailBiking along the Kiel Canalabout General Snus last Saturday and it they manage to get it until tomorrow it must be some kind of record.

Our Cadet have fixed our bikes in the gym. I had asked him to check the bikes as I knew that I needed to sit on the bikes to practice, well, to get my behindBiking along the Kiel Canalused to sit on a saddle again. If I threw myself on a bike in Kiel hissing along the Kiel Canal I will soon end up with a sore behind.

I can imagine a sore behind on my first day and I will have to spend the rest of my bicycle holiday with my bike in the back of a taxi. Like my last bicycle that I bought. That bike spend more time in a taxi than on the roads. Not what Ihave planned. So I will start with a few minutes per day. I went down with our Cadet and I discovered that we had two bikes.

We had one bike with a normal saddle and we had one “racer” with a saddle that looked very uncomfortable. I have asked the bike tour company to send me pictures of the bike I'm going to use so I can see what kind of saddle they have.

Aladdin's adventure on board M/T Roy Mærsk/ Roy Maersk

But I was surprised, I was just pedal slowly and I didBiking along the Kiel Canal18km/h.Hmm, I will cycle 40 to 50 km per day so I will have to pedal very slowly or I will arrive to the next hotel in 2 hours.

Of course, I will make a lot of stops to watch the ships and birds and other excitements along the canal. And there are another small Canal, don't remember the name, but this can be exciting to explore. My wildlife in Rumania and Poland seems to be nothing but a disappointment.

You need to be there in March/ April to see the animals. I asked about June and by then it was almost impossible to see any of the animals I wanted to see: bears, beavers, wolfs, lynx and bison. Well, I will have to see, but I refuse to go in winter clothing.

I had already told them, after my extensive researches in Singapore I knew that Pepsi MAX would be almost impossible to find. So I had told them that they would most likely not be able to find any Pepsi MAX But Diet Pepsi would be (almost) as good.

We had got new sample gas for our gas detectors. I was sitting there minding my own business when one of our Engineers came in. He asked if I had seen the Pepsi Light.

We had one Painter leaving us here in Singapore and we got a new Painter on board. He was running back and forth between the CCR and my cabin with diet drinks.

When I was finally alone I could continue with the gas bottles and the audit reports. 5 Audits and 4 reports had to be done. Also, while doing paper work with one hand I had one hand on deck checking the crew rectifying the very few remarks we had got during the Survey. We had of course passed the survey/ inspections/ audits with flying colours.

We left Singapore anchorage just after 8 o'clock something bound for Singapore OPL anchorage where we will wait for the next cargo. Annoying drizzle/ rain and the crew could not paint, chipping only. But we will hopefully be able to cup brush and paint tomorrow if the weather permits.

Time passed very quickly doing the reports and it was soon lunch time. But first I went on deck to take a picture of a new sign in the crane. Just to discover that the battery was flat so I will have to do it after lunch. Time for an alco test after lunch and we went up to the bridge. And we were running in to action and I was lucky to have brought my camera.

I'm running straight in to some radio action as our Duty Officer is calling another ship. When she is ready with the radio I am very lucky and there is suddenly some action around the radar. She and the AB is studying the screen and I was lucky to get to document the whole drama. Turning around and there is more drama.

I suggested to our 2nd officer that we should go there to check it out next time we're home. I can fly to him in Varanasi and we can take his car from there. Time for a tiger safari when I'm back home? I don't feel like going to the Carpathians in the winter.

and we're still anchored when I'm coming in to the CCR a few minutes before 8 o'clock in the morning. Captain joined us half way in to the good morning gymnastics session. We had the tool box/ safety meeting and the crew were sent on deck. Pump Man and two of my TOP GUNS had some special tasks to carry out before they went on deck to remove a piece of steam pipe.

Pump Man will bring it to the work shop for some welding and as we're going to have the last of our drills after the coffee break in the afternoon we will need to have our “quickest” boys on the

noun (PL. -ies) [MASS NOUN] (also electrical conductivity) the degree to which a specified material conducts electricity, calculated as the ratio of the current density in the material to the electric field which causes the flow of current. It is the reciprocal of the resistivity.
job, my “Dream Team” that is.

The pipe was off just after lunch and we could hear Pump Man working with the pipe all the way up to the CCR where one of the ABs were helping me to measure the conductivity on the UTI's. When we were ready with the UTI's I had to go down in the engine room to check the ODME plant in the FRAMO room. Yearly inspection of the ODME system.

I stopped in the work shop and right there and then I realised that the search for the “Hard working Mr. Dynamite” of the month was over. I had been searching high and low, but here he was just in front of me working with his “He-man” tools.

What a man!

I had high hopes about our Cadet making it as the “Hard working Mr. Dynamite” of the month. But against Pump Man and all his power tools, well, our Cadet didn't stand a chance. And what a display our Pump ManWelding on board Roy Maerskput on in the work shop. Loud banging and noise. The sound of power tools, sparksWelding on board Roy Maerskand fire. How could our Cadet have a chance against this? But he will have the chance again next month.

Pump Man is a worthy winner of the “Hard working Mr. Dynamite” of the month award. We were already in the time for the drills. We kicked of the drills at 15 thirty and we completed the drills just in time for dinner. Saturday and all bets are off. Anyway, while I'm in the mess room you can enjoy this Saturday's “Afternoon Fun Video”

Wheels 2 wheel in Germany, the company I was planned to set up my tour along the Kiel Canal with. They had been very quick to reply but when i asked for the pictures of the bicycle, well, there haven't been much activity after that. So I found a new company and I wrote them an e-mail. Now I hope they reply so I can start plan my summer holiday. I was on the bridge speaking with our Indian 2nd Officer in the evening. We will go home at about the same time and looks like he is in for a tiger safari when he is back home.

But in the end I guess it is up to his wife what he is really up to. I also sent an e-mail to Rumania about the tour to Carpathians and the Bison, Bears, Wolves and Lynx plus beavers. March, for sure I won't go, well, 99% for sure I won’t go.

But I was thinking about the 200 dollars I wasted on the sweet pants on New Zealand. Never used so in order not to make it in to a total waste of money I might use them in the Carpathians.

and we are still anchored. So we changed some of the FRAMO hydraulic pipes on deck today. A big job and it was a very heavy job. But time passed quickly and it was soon time for dinner. And tomorrow will not be less exciting as we have plenty to do.

Tuesday 28 th of November 2017

Thursday 30 th of November 2017
and we started the day with a safety meeting on the bridge. We need to change the ballast so they can change a valve in the engine room and I got started with this after the meeting. We had have the tool box and the gym session before the meeting so this was ready. They will call me form the office at 10 o'clock.

First they wanted me to come to the office, but the boat from here is 10000 Dollars so they skipped this idea and went for the phone option instead. Anyway, they had booked the time between 10:00 and 11:00. I was pretty sure what it was all about, www.aladdin.st. The phone call was over in 5 minutes and they asked me to remove Maersk's name from the web page. Well, maybe too much “fingers” But of course, the reason is that the ships don't look the best and keeping the quality they want us to think they keep.

We remember when they asked me to remove the pictures from Maersk Cassandra with everything falling apart on deck when we did the tank cleaning.

They gave me the “business sensitive” information on the web page. Of course, sensitive when the ships are, well, no money are spent on the maintenance. And then it was security reason and theywere concerned about the safety of the crew. Well, I have been working for Maersk Tankers for 6 years now.

Hundreds of pages about safety instructions, rest hours, so many stupid placards on how dangerous it is to work to long without rest. Of course, nothing done to prevent the crew from worrying so the rest hours turns red. And one time we dropped the anchor because we had been working long. No prize to be won if you can guess how popular this was at the office.

This is only instructions so they have their back clear and to blame the crew if something have gone wrong. According to the instructions...

And believe me, there is absolutely no concerns over the safety or wellbeing of the crew. Of course, it says safety first and the crew is our most valuable asset. As you understand, this is nothing but BS. The TV series “Keeping Appearance” springs to mind.

They were lying to me telling me that the ship was going to Singapore when we were going to pirate area. The new crew coming on board was choked when they learned that we were trading in the pirate waters outside Somalia. We are concerned about the crew's safety,Yet another Smiley on www.aladdin.stthat was a good one. And they tell me, I know the truth, I understand if they tell their customers, but telling it to one of their crew members...

But we can put pictures like this on the internet again

Anyway, we completed the test of our emergency pump and when they were ready with the valve in the engine room I prepared the ballast so we can go down in the DB 2 STB tomorrow. I was on the poop deck to check out the guys working with the rollers and winches.

Chipping and painting and we need to weld some new supports, but this have to be done next week if we have the time. Never run out of things to do on board Roy Mærsk.
