Sunday 14thof May 2017and it is time to leave for another safari. This time leopard safari on Sri Lanka. The driver called me at 18 twenty and she had arrived. I told her that I would be down in a few minutes time. i brought out the garbage and my box of Pepsi MAX. It took 2 guys to lif in the MAX in to the trunk.
The driver seemed a little confused and I had to guide her until we reached the toll way. We were making good speed until the traffic came to full stop. They had closed the road to let through a convoy of police cars and some VIP cars.

We arrive to Suvarnabhumi International
Check in at Suvarnabhumi was not as easy as it used to be. A lot of people had the usual trouble with their paper work. And I ended up with a girl that had to make several phone calls and, well, she gave a confused impression. Well, it is one of those days. I had to go back to “ODD SIZE” luggage to check in my 28 kg box of Pepsi MAX.
Then back to the security and immigration and I was in the Thai Airways lounge a few minutes later. I have not had any food since the lounge at Mumbai International, well except two cans of tuna back home. So I was hungry, they have food at the lounge, but nothing, not even close to what they serve on Mumbai International.
I was in the computer room listen to the ““End of the walkway” warning message every 10 seconds. The end of the walk way is obviously right next to the computer room. So this warning message is something I know by now after many hours spent in the Thai Airways lounge on Suvarnabhumi.

I got an e-mail from Terrace Green Hotel, the hotel I will stay at in Colombo. They will pick me up at midnight. Then tomorrow morning they will come to pick me up at 9 o'clock for transport toYala National Park, some 6 hours away with taxi.
I left for gate D1A after an hour and as no surprise there was no boarding in time. And gate D1A means that we will have to go by bus. I don't mind, gate D1A is just at the lounge. My only worries now is the Pepsi MAX, 28 kg, will they be able to handle it?

It was an OK flight, good food and good service and as I was busy with my lap top the time passed very quickly. They went through the trouble to announce that it was Star Alliance's 20th birthday today and that they would serve us a special dessert today. It was exactly the same dessert I had have the last flight with Thai Airways.
Anyway, Immigration was quite smooth, just someone waving at me when I took a picture. So this was obviously not allowed. He said that they would send me back. Seriously, what is the big secret around here? Any normal person, set to remember the place would do so without any problem.
So I don't know, maybe I have the only picture of the Colombo International immigration in the world for you to enjoy.

Here it is, the top secret immigration in Colombo, Sri Lanka
There was a guy with my name waiting for me outside the custom area. We were also waiting for a guy from Japan coming with Singapore Airlines. His flight arrived before my flight but he was 5 minutes after me out from the custom. Anyway, I was in bed at one thirty with my alarm set to go off at 7. They will come to pick me up at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning.
A 6 hour road trip from Colombo to Yala, this promise to be exciting. First time for me on Sri Lanka so I willhopefully have a lot to look at on the road. Anyway, below we have the simple, yet smart way to follow the leopard safari. Just click a link:
20th May:Yala Full day Tour Well, full day tours and a 2 hour break is too much for me, so I decided to pay the extra entrance fee going back in to the park in the afternoon. Then I could have lunch at my hotel. And of course a shower. So this is my plan from now on
And this decision turned out to be the best thing ever. It was really nice to be back in my AV rom for a few hours after 6 to 7 hours in the jeep. And anyway, all the animals are hiding during the hight of the day due to the heat.
