Well, the flag of Skåne, just a BONUS flag.
Thursday 12thof January 2017and they came to pick me up at 7 thirty. I had been up since 6 and my luggage was ready to leave the guest house. We had to go to Blue Season Bali's officeagain to discuss the price. I have paid for a tour on my own, but they wanted me to pay more.
I already decided to never use Blue Season Bali again. This was, well, I wished that I had stayed home. My holiday was destroyed by all this. I agreed to pay 600 ++ US Dollars extra and we could leave for Tulamben. They had told me it was 2 and a half hour to drive to Tulamben and I decided that we should leave at 7 thirty to be there at 10.
It was 11 o'clock before we arrived to the hotel in Tulamben. I ordered tea and a omelette in the restaurant. I was told that it was 4 hours from here to my hotel in Menjangan. I shat my pants! What the
I had suggested to Blue Season Bali yesterday that we should go to the snorkelling site closest to Menjangan so it would not be so long to drive. This was a great idea and now we end up here. Iwas under the impression that it was an hour from here to Menjangan with car.
4 hours in the Suzuki van and I was convinced that this would drive me crazy. Suzuki van, I would be very surprised if this car was allowed in Europe. A beer can with 4 wheels.
Sitting on the floor and, well, it was a pain riding in the darn car. This was not the kind of planning I had expected. Well, it will be short when I go back to Sunar on Sunday.
Today we're just going in to the water from the beach at the restaurant. The wreck is 100 meters from the beach so it only took a few minutes to get there. The hardest part was to get in to the water as I could not see where I put my feet walking out in the water.
Coming up from the water - Finished with the snorkelling for today
I gave up the snorkelling after about 1 hour. It was getting cold as I didn't used my wet suit today. Walking form the restaurant to the beach, maybe 60 meter. But as you have seen me inmy new wet suit you understand that I don't want to walk around looking like a Yokohama fender in my wet suit. Something I try to avoid exposing in public.
So I was just swimming in my new swimming gear and I was happy with the shirt and trousers. A hat would also have been nice to have as I have burned the top of my head. Back in the restaurant and I had 2 post of tea and an omelette before we took off towards Menjangan and my hotel.
It was so nice when we arrived to Hotel The Menjangan after a little more than 3 hours. I was soon to understand that we had to go by car between the reception and my room. The reception was at the bottom of what they called the Bali Tower. A tree house with the restaurant on the 3 floors above the reception.
Get out of the wheeled beer can and it was so nice. Hard to walk for a wee bit until I was warm in my leg.As soon as I was back in walking mood I wanted to get my room, NOW! I was about to piss my pants. They wanted me to sit at a table to relax.
I told them just to give me my paper to sign so I could go to my room. They wanted my pass port and there was no stop to it. I told them that I had paid with my AMEX and they had all my details. CAN I PLEASE HAVE MY ROOM? Now I learned that my room was 500 meter away. I could not believe my ears! - What the
I was about to let me self go in the pants. I managed to get them to understand the seriousness in the situation we left in the same van I had arrived with. I didn't want to waste time moving myluggage from the car to the hotel car.
They followed us in the hotel car and as soon as I stepped inside I closed the door. It took a few seconds and it knocked on my door.
It was from the reception and they wanted my pass port. I handed them my passport and I told them that I was coming to pick it up later on when I had my dinner.
I was hungry so I had a snicker and a tube of Pringles. My original plan was to go back to therestaurant but I was full after the Snickers and Pringles. 2 hours later and I called thereception and they sent a car to pick me up.
The restaurant was located on the three top floors in the Bali Tower, I only went up to the first floor. I ordered tea, smoked salmon andspaghetti Bolognese or whatever they call it.
The tea, needless to say, it was good. Smoked salmon (ALMOST always a winner) Yes, when we finished the snorkelling the first day we went to a restaurant for lunch before returning to Sanur. I asked for tea (And they had a real tea cup) and spaghetti with smoked salmon.
It was good until I chewed on the smoked salmon, it was like wood. I used my spoon and I knocked on the salmon. I called the waitress and I asked her what it was. She told me that she thought it was smoked salmon. I knocked on the salmon. KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK and she took back my plate to the kitchen. I told her that she didn't need to bother bring any food back to the table
She was soon back and she told me that the Cook was sorry, they had had the salmon too long in the microwave oven. - What the? Smoked salmon in the microwave?
Well, anyway, the salmon here at The Menjangan was very good, served with an excellent black bread. The spaghetti was also very good and I was full when I went back to my room with thehotel car.
Back in my room and I discovered big lizards on the window to my bathroom. Luckily enough they were on the outside of the window. But I was not very keen on going to the bathroom anymore. Never know what’s lurking in there.
My birding Guide will be here at 6 o'clock tomorrow morning and I had asked for a wake-up call at 5 o'clock. And the weather willhopefully be niceweather. Coming here and it had been raining, and I mean raining.
We drove through rivers where streets had turned in to rivers. So I really hope we have good weather tomorrow morning when we go bird watching. You just need to clickHEREto find out what kind of weather we have. And of course, maybe more important, will I find any birds?
And this is what I'm training and practicing for, the great Humpback whale adventure
