Well, the flag of Skåne, just a BONUS flag.
Sunday 25thof June 2017and you pass the ZOO going from Taman Tasik Ampang Hilir to IsiRimba. You stay in the highway Jalan Lingkaran Tengah 2 all the way until you have passed the ZOO. Then you make a U-turn and drive back and turn left at the ZOO. So it is pretty convenient and it didn't take us very long to reach Taman Zooview Road going up the mountains and the IsiRimba/ Kemensah Valley.
A few minutes after passing the zoo you tell your driver to drive slowly and you can keep a look out for birds as you drive along. Further up the road you will drive along a stream. It is a beautiful road along a stream. We made plenty stops to get out to walk and look for birds
The stream is mostly between the road and forest. But there is also many weekend huts and according to my driver it is full during the weekends. This weekend was a LONG weekend and my driver told me that most people had returned home to their villages during the long weekend. So we were lucky, we were alone in the beautiful area.
Barn Swallow and the Pacific Swallow is identical, just the breast is the difference and thus I put this swallow down as a Pacific swallow. I might be wrong and I would like to be corrected.
We drove to the end of the Taman Zooview Road. The area is so beautiful and we were alone so we made several stops. Might be difficult during the normal activity here as the road was only big enough for one car. And there are many birds in the forest and it would be possible to spend days here with no problem. We drove back and we turned right going up to IsiRimba.
This road is also going along a stream and weekend resorts. All of them empty so if you come in the middle of the week you can walk around the resorts to look for birds without annoying anyone. And of course, if you're a real Dare Devil you can get out in the forest fight scorpions and snakes while looking for birds.
We reach the Kemansah Off road Trail
If you don't have an off road machine you can continue straight for 200 meters or so until you reach another resort and the end of the road. I saw a Black-naped Oriole and when I was going to look at the ponds I saw a beautiful olive coloured Spiderhunter sitting on small bananas in the tree next to the bridge. Of course, when I had my camera ready the bird was gone. And this was one of the birds I really wanted to see. DARN!
I went out on the bridge, but I turned back after 1 meter. No way I'm going out on that bridge!
No way I'm going out on that bridge!
I walk around in the resort
I walk around in the resort
I walk around in the resort
Again, Mike the birder had seen a Kingfisher here. A Blue-eared Kingfisher, another Kingfisher I would like to see. And thanks to his blog thehttps://mikebirder.blogspot.my/I found this beautiful area.
And the area beyond the bridge, with ponds and the stream looked very promising to see exciting birds. But for me, well, first they have to build a new sturdy bridge.
We started to drive down the mountain entering small dirt roads on the way to look for birds. So by the time we were back at the ZOO we had been on almost every road in the IsiRimba/ Kemensah Valley area. A very nice morning in the nature, and I cannot believe how lucky we had been with the long weekend. Same in Bangkok, everyone is out of town and we had the place for our self. A fantastic morning.
We had lunch at Old Town White Coffee before we left for FRIM. We were unlucky, we had been looking for another place but it was closed. So we had to take our lunch at Old Town, and it was not good. We left Old Town and I knew that I would never set foot there again.
FRIM, clickHEREto find out if I see any Kingfishers oe any other birds.
