Friday 23rdof June 2017and time to do a VISA RUN. Time turns really quick and this time I will go to do some bird watching in Malaysia. Main reason to come here is to practice andtrain with my underwater camera preparing for the great Humpback whale adventure on Tonga in a few months’ time. I have contacted AK KL TRANSPORT SERVICES, MPV Taxi so transportation is set up.
Kuala Lumpur International to Holiday Inn 27th of June: Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Besut jetty 30th of June Kuala Besut jetty to Genting Highlands
I was preparing everything back in April, but now I discovered that most of the hotels were full on Pulau Perhentian Kecil. So I had to book at Ombak Dive Resort and I was not very happy about it. And also, I needed to cut my stay short as they didn't had any room available for the days I wanted to stay. So I made a reshuffle. Start in Kuala Lumpur and end in the rainforest at the Genting Highlands.
And it will be nice to leave Bangkok for a few days even though I don't look forward to leaving my food boxes and diet behind.
But I had time for a season at Chaiyasit Muay Thai Gym withปีศาจแดง ก.กุมานนท์, Red Devil and I was happy for an opportunity to burn some calories before I take off. Back home at 11 thirty andI have time to pack my bag before they come from Black Tie Limousine Service, my free ride to Suvarnabhumi International.
And I was in a good mood leaving Bangkok behind. Or maybebecause things had turned out what seems to be OK with my snorkelling boat. Changing from Ombak Dive Resort to BuBu Long Beach Resort, even though it was 3 times theprice. But it was a nightmare, required a lot of e-mails and even some screaming on the phone before things was sorted to my satisfaction.
- Hmm, let's see how it turns out before corking up the Pepsi MAX
So training with my underwater camera, visa run and yet another reason to leave Thailand. I bought new flight socks 2 days ago and I really want to try them. They are supposed to dowonders for us old people. So I bought two pairs, might be worth trying. Anyway, the socks are quite comfy so it is OK even though they don't make wonders.

The “free” car is here to pick me up
Duu Thoomaaas...
I went down with my garbage and the Black Tie Limousine Service had arrived. I went back up to get my luggage and we were soon off towards Suvarnabhumi International and Thai Airways flight TG 417. I told the driver to take me to gate 10 as I was going to get my VAT refund for my new computer. A couple of thousand baht I have better use for than the government.
I got my receipts stamped and I walked back to gate 1 and Thai Airways check-in. Took just a very few minutes to check-in, passing the security and the immigration. I was soon in the lounge having a snack. I just had to sit down for 45 minutes before it was time to cash my VAT refund and to go to gate D3 to board Thai Airways flight TG 417.
And as no surprise, boarding was late, and when I boarded there were no crew to welcome us. So they were obviously not ready. I have never boarded a Thai Airways flight in time. In Tokyo it is a wee different approach to keeping the time.
Time of boarding and there is a PA message. Boarding is late... - OH! NO! You're thinking ... by 1 minute

Duu Thoomaaas... My MAX boxes was the first thing coming on the luggage belt
we drove on a very nice highway towards Kuala Lumpur and it was quite a difference form the highways in Thailand. No sign of any dangerous driving and I enjoyed myself with a MAX
in the back seat. 40 or 50 minutes later and we were in Kuala Lumpur. And it was about an hour after we left the airport that we arrived to the hotel.
By then I had agreed with the lady that she would come to pick me up on Sunday morning for a full day birding and I would rent the car for the full day. I will have the same driver during all mytrips here in Malaysia, so that is good. And she seems to be a good driver, no rally complex so I was happy.
And it was a comfy car, important as we will do a 6 to 7 hour road trip on Tuesday when I go to Pulau Perhentian Kecil on the East coast of Malaysia. So I will have to cross Malaysia in a taxi. - Cross Malaysia in a taxi!! Won't that be expensive?
Not much more than a flight and transport to and from the airport. Now I will have acomfy ride and I will see a bit of the country at the same time.
I have done it before. Manila to Donsol, a real nightmare. Ending up sitting almost 12 hours in the car and average speed was less than 40km/h. 3 Timesthe price of flying and needless to say, I was flying back to Manila. Never again!
Same in India, I was going around India in a car to see tigers. Never again!! It was interesting, believe me. But it is enough to do it one time.
But flying is not any fun either so, anyway, this time I will have a look at the country. Can as well take the chance when I'm here. And it seems to be nice people around so it will be fun. At least the first 30 minutes, the last few hours, well, I don't know.

I checked in and as I was a wee bit hungry I went to the restaurant as soon as I had all my luggage in my room. I sat down and I was soon having a pot of tea in front of me. I asked for cheesenaan, Spaghetti something and a pizza. All the food was good, exceptthe spaghetti that i could not eat. I called the waiter and I asked who had dropped the pepper jar in the food.
This was not what I had expected, but the girl told me it was supposed to be spicy. I asked her if it was supposed to be “burning”spicy. But never mind, I told her that I was more than full already so never mind.
Actually, it was good, because my diet would not have been any more successful having finished the spaghetti as well. And yes, I was full, and full of agony when I left the restaurant. This is not good for my diet!
And I'm not here to eat myself out of my trousers. I went next door to the Family Mart. I need to buy breakfast, breakfast for two included in the room, but they don't start the breakfast until 6 thirty and by then I should already be in the field looking for birds.
Late dinners
My food from now on
So I need breakfast that I can have on my room before leaving for the early birding. I didn't expect to find anything healthy. Tea, milk and some bread. I was on my way to the cashier when I discovered oatmeal. I put back the bread and I took 10 packs of oatmeal. About one cup in each bag and 133 kcal per serving.
I was shocked when I discovered that one bag was 6 servings. How the **** is this possible? What a cheat! 6 people sharing a cup of oatmeal! Early to bed, impossible to sleep and I know I will be tired when they wake me up at 5 o’clock tomorrow morning. I will start the day in KL Forest ECO Park - Bukit Nanas Wildlife Reserve. Follow links below to see if I find any birds.
